View Full Version : Any graphic designers here? I'm in a bind and need help

Here's the deal. I need some business cards designed for Chicago. Nothing complicated, I have my exceedingly simple design in mind.

Here's why I need this on such short notice; my sister, who despite her total lack of work ethic purports to want to be a graphic designer, told me she would design them.

That was a month ago.

Now I have nine days to go until the con, and she continues to make excuses. And here's the kicker.

She claims she's only going to do one of the three designs I need. Which wouldn't be an issue, except each one has a different function; either for potential readers, or editors, etc. I expect she still wants to be reimbursed in full for this third of the work. There's that work ethic.

I don't have much to pay someone, but if anyone wants to give it a go please let me know and I will let you know if I can afford it. There's a chance she will still come through, but it's a slim one.

*has a short nervous breakdown*

Do them in Photoshop and buy Semi-Gloss card to the exact weight you want.

It's very easy to do.

That's exactly how I read it.

Well, we're bumping the thread. Surely that's of some help.

Office Depot sells the packs of cards, just design it yourself, put a grid together, and print them out on your own printer, it's a bit time consuming, but you should be able to handle it. If not, you could always run to Kinko's, though that'll cost a lot, but they'll get them done quickly.

I have no printer. I have one, but my machine decided to stop reading it.

Go to Kinkos or something.

Go to Kinkos or something.

This is what I will end up doing. I may have the answer I need as far as design. For design it's really more of I don't have time. It's back to work even as I post.

I'm a graphic designer and may be able to help. PM me with some details of when you need the files, etc. I can probably knock out a business card design in one night.
