BATMAN IN THE MARVEL UNIVERSE (http://www.filmfodder.com/comics/archives/2006/07/batman_comes_to_marvel.shtml)

This is the latest column I've written for my gig over at filmfodder.com/comics.
It's a slow news week so I'm just playing around and keep content on the site.

This is a fun thing I'll start to do more often if I get a good response. Please post in the comments on the blog and we can discuss the article there.

Also here if you like, but it'd be nice if I could get some traffic to the site and start a good conversation over there.

No registration needed for comments.

THanks guys.

That would be an interesting maxi-series, or whatever, but I just don't see Batman leaving Gotham.

Do you have any ideal creative team for it?

I'd prefer not to mix Batman up in Civil War.

Cool article. My only question is why you think the cops would welcome Batman in the marvel universe? They dont exactly love costumed vigilantes in Marvel's NY.

No creative team in mind.

As for why the cops would welcome the Bat. My view is this: Batman is the cop's hero. Not hero of the cops but he's the hero that works best with police. He's usually as non-violent as possible, he never kills, and he's a detective. He helps. Where as SPiderman is known to swing around, catch villians and then swing away, Batman solves crimes. If I were writing it I would show some examples of Batman HELPING the police when they are lost (something not many Marvel heroes do) and developing a relationship with maybe a few really good cops.

Thanks for checking out the article and the blog. I know I can always count on the BB for support in my creative endevors.

Interesting ideas.

And y'know, it makes me think that if we ever see more Marvel/DC crossovers, they shouldn't be standalone type deals. Let the character play in the otherworld in the current status quo like this. I think it would make crossovers on the whole much MUCH more interesting.

You win the prize for hitting the nail on the head.

I wrote this piece based on just that theory. Now I'm working on WHO from Marvel would fit as seemlessly in Dc as Bat's does in Marvel?

Any suggestions?

Hmm. So, Batman goes over to New York during Civil War to basically "clean-up" after the heroes who are too busy fighting each other instead of fighting crime?

Sounds good. I like it. A+ for effort.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I like it and think this IS in Batman's character.

While all the Supers are busy pissing and moaning, he's got to go do what's right and what's needed.
