I felt the need to start this because I have questions and I need them answered.

Question #1: In one of the issues of New Avengers drawn by Steve McNiven, I think 8, but I'm not sure, there's a scene where Tony and Logan are talking on the helicarrier and Tony is trying to convice Logan to join the team. Tony offers Logan anything he wants and obviously he accepts. My question is ar we ever going to see what Logan wanted or because of Civil War and all that stuff is it a long ways off?

Question #2:I know it's been asked, but are we ever going to find out who hired Electro to break out all the villians?

Question #3:Not really a question, I just recently caught up with Powers, all of it and I have to say that it's fucking awesome, some of the best stuff I've read in a while.

Question #4: Ever read Charlie Huston's novels? I started Caught Stealing and it's kicking ass.

Question #5: When is Spider-Woman coming out? Have you written any issues yet? If so how many?

Question #6: Can you reveal anything about your book with Frank Cho?

I'm done, I'll be back with more.

Ok, here's the Xorn debacle as I understand it:
Magneto survives decimation of Genosha and is whisked to China by his followers. Upon arriving there, he learns of the mutant Xorn and steals his identity. He infiltrates the X-Men, gets hopped up on kick and destroys NYC. Learning of her father's drug-addled possession, Wanda changes reality so that it wasn't actually him, but another mutant... what's the deal with the latest Xorn in New Avengers? Is that the original that was combined with Magneto? If so, how did he survive getting decapitated? Or is it his brother who appeared in X-Men? I thought that Xorn was a hero? :surrend:

Question #5: When is Spider-Woman coming out?

Although Joe Quesada has said that he'd blatantly borrow anything that DC did that worked, I can't see Marvel making Spider-Woman a lesbian just to get in on all the media attention surrounding Batwoman.

1.) Don't you feel that with SHIELD showing up all the time, they're getting a little played out? They're like a huge Deus Ex Machina.

2.) What's a Marvel Character that you haven't written yet, and I know that's not many, that you've always wanted to write? I hear Darkhawk could use a revival :D

3.) How cool is it knowing that your pieces of your storyline for Ultimate Venom could be put into Spiderman 3?

4.) Would it be possible to mention my standup tour in an upcoming comic (Geek Comedy Tour 3000)? I'd be considered the King of the Streets, heck even mentioning it will make me a kick ass Duke of the streets.

1. Since we saw Retro Girl kind of reincarnated already, are we ever going to see the Wolf reincarnated? Or maybe have we seen him already? I know this is a stretch, but with Deena starting to turn kind of villian-y, does she have a little bit of the Wolf in her now?

2. I'm really looking forward to more of your creator-owned stuff. You mentioned in some of the other Q and A threads and podcasts that you're working on something. Can you give us any idea when this new project will be announced? Can you tell us whether it's a mini or an ongoing or any other details on the project?

3. I know you're friends with a lot of other comic book pros. Have any of them helped you come up with or work through a story that they weren't credited for? What stories? Have you ever helped another comic pro work through some of THEIR story ideas?

4. Ever considered coming to Asia? You've got 4 board members over here now, so I'm sure we'd be willing to put you up in style.

Let me begin by saying thank you. Powers and your work on Daredevil is one of the main reasons I got back into comics after a 10yr hiatus. The level of writing and characterization you bring out in your stories is fantastic and I have converted several friends into comic book readers based on your work. Thank you very much.

Now for my question, who is Catman and why do you love him so?

I love the love the letter section in Powers and I always enjoy your media recommendations in the "no life" segment. You seem to be into a lot of different kinds of cds, but my question is do you ever go out to see live music? If so, have you seen anything good lately? I ask because Portland must be a great town for shows.

It seems that you do a lot of your research by reading nonfiction books on the subjects you are going to reference in your comics work. However, there are a lot of authors out there who write books to grab headlines or serve their own agendas. My question is: how do you figure which books will get you to the truth of the matter? Is the truthfullness of the work important or is it all grist for the mill?

I read in an interview before Avengers #500 came out that you read every single prior Avengers issue to prepare for your run. When you research like that, do you buy the books yourself or do you have access to Marvel's archives?

1. Why does Mark Millar seem really nice when I hear him on a podcast or see him in an interview on TV but when I read an interview from him he seems like a creepy perv?

2. What was you're take on X-Men 3: The Last Stand? (If you hated it what did you hate the most?)

3. Can you watch my short film and tell me what you thought of it? It's only 3 minutes long. (I'm the main guy...if you care...)

Do you ever see a day when comic sales are double, or even triple, what they are today?

What do you think the comic companies can do to make that happen?

Are Marvel and DC and Dark Horse and Image exploiting their movie properties enough to get people to make the leap from a movie they've just seen to pick up a comic?

And finally, what about this idea: Bendis writes and Quesada draws a 12-issue run of Amazing Spider-Man. Cover price is $1.00. If that series had mega sales, even as a loss-leader, could it lift all the boats at Marvel?

1. I like the new way you guys are depicting Tony Stark in-armor in New Avengers. However, it's kind of confusing whether he's in a little sensory deprivation thingy that allows him to control the armor or if he's in the armor and it's just the way he sees things. Is there a reason behind showing him this way, and will it be touched on, or was it just a cool idea that you or one of the artists had?

2. Do you enjoy the musical stylings of the Dave Matthews Band?

3. How many songs are on your iPod? I have a 20 gig and it's got over 3700.

Would you ever kiss Gail Simone....WITH TONGUE!?

...sorry...I have some serious questions:

Grant Morrisons New X-Men run seems to have created the craziest shockwaves in Marvel in the past few years. By the way writers handle the events in their own books, you can kind of tell whether each one liked it or hated it...what do you think of this run?

What are some good websites that you know of to hook up artists and writers?

What was your experience with Image Comics like?

Who, if you had to name one, would be you FAVORITE comic book artist of all time?

and lastly,

In a previous podcast you named Young Avengers as a "near perfect" comic. Why? (not dissing it, I just want to know makes you think so highly of it.)

Thanks for all the great books and those still to come!

Hey Bendis, I'm a newbie to the board and I have to say it's insanity personified. I love it. And thanks John for these awesome podcasts, they are what encouraged me to join.

1) Is bald the new black?

2) Do you own any pink clothing (best color ever!)

3) What is the best way for a wannabe writer to break into the business? Would internship be a smart route?

4) What do you think about DC's use of "legacy characters" such as The Flash,, Green Lantern, Blue Beetle, ect. who have had multiple characters taking up the mantle of a hero? Do you think Marvel should implement the legacy aspect?

5) What do you think of all these damn "I'm with..." Civil War sigs? Dead fad or hilarity squared?

Joe Doesn't Care

Hey Bendis,

With all the Civel War stuff going on any chance of a new SHIELD book? I used to love the old Nick Fury stuff and it seems like now would be a good time for a new spy/espionage kind of book. Also have you seen the movie BRICK yet. Really cool modern noir mystery flick. Also big thank you for John for doing these usually I burn them to CD and listen while I'm driving, my girlfriend who NEVER picked up a comic in her life actually really loves the podcast too and has actually started to read a couple books thanks to these podcasts.

1) Ever have the temptation to give yourself and your collaborators amusingly alliterative nicknames like Stan Lee did? Back in the day, we used to have "Smiling Stan Lee," "Jolly Jack Kirby" and "Jazzy John Romita." What would we have today? "Benelovent Brian?" "Dandy David Mack?" Or would the nicknames have to be more macabre to fit with Marvel's current, darker themes? Perhaps it should be "Dog-punting David Mack," "Blackhearted Bendis," and "Oeming the Merciless?" What are your thoughts?

2) Have you ever had a great idea for a storyline in one of your books and then swapped it over to another for the sake of timing or greater exposure? Say you had an idea for Powers that was truly epic...would you ever decide to rewrite it into a New Avengers story so that more people would read it? Or vice versa so that you would own all of the rights? It seems like most of your stories are more character driven than plot-driven, though, so perhaps they aren't as interchangeable as one would think.

3) Are you glad that Millar's the one handling Civil War, or are there times when you secretly wish Joe Quesada would burst into the Marvel offices, yell "Nobody puts Bendy in a corner!" and carry you away to finish the series?

4) People say I'm gay for Wolverine, but I don't agree with that. When you think about it, Wolverine's hairy, tempramental, and can bleed for days without dying...that basically makes him the vagina that walks on two legs. Shouldn't being obsessed with him make me straighter than the guy who invented gynecology?

5) Are there currently any plans for Captain America that involve being blown the hell up? Because that's something I think you should look into. Or you know what? Have him get blown the hell up and then SHIELD rebuilds him as the new Deathlok. Yeah...you could call him Caps Lock. He could be hardwired so that HE ALWAYS YELLS ALL OF THE TIME! Like "HELLO! I AM CAPS LOCK! MY JINGOISM IS 98.9% MORE EFFICIENT THAN THAT OF YOU CRUDE CARBON-BASED LIFE FORMS! BEHOLD MY MULTITASKING SKILLS! I AM HIJACKING A SHIELD UNICYCLE AND ENGAGING IN MALE BONDING PROGRAM #62554 WITH DESIGNATE: FALCOLN SIMULTANEOUSLY!" No, don't worry about sharing the rights with me, the first taste is always free.

Brian Michael:

How much time has passed in the normal Marvel Universe? Given the fact that Franklin Richards is now about 8 years old, and that Peter Parker has gone from spider-bitten high schooler to public school teacher, it has to be about 12 years of elapsed time, correct?

That's such a geeky question but I wanted to ask.

1. maybe you've cleared this up, but if you have can you say, and if not when will you say what Flash was trying to tell Pete in USM?

2. will you ever give Kirkman a shot at USM? just a one-shot would be sweet, because I do love your stuff on USM, but the guy seems to really to want to take his crack at it.

3. how about Invincible cameo in USM. That'd be cool. Even though he's appeared in MTU, it'd be sweet to have him in the Ultimate Universe.

4. even with me LIVING in california I am unable to make it to the San Diego Con. Any chance of you making it to the Wonder Con in the bay area?

5. This could get me yelled at by everyone on the board. But I've never hear you say anything about this, so here's this last question:
Would you ever go to DC to at the very least do a small run on Batman??

6. Ultimate Danny & Cage, when's that happening? We got a glimpse of
Luke in Ultimates, but when are they meeting up? Or will we at least get some sort of glimpse into who Luke is in the Ultimate Universe. How he's different from his regular marvel universe counterpart.

Are you reading Seven Soldiers? If so, thoughts?

Do you still have that Bill The Cat t-shirt?

If you could be director on your dream film project, who would you choose as cinematographer?

Will Jennifer Grunwald remain "coo coo for Cocoa Puffs"?

You said early on that you and Mike have an ending for POWERS, its just a matter of how long you'll take getting there. Has anything you've written, or any decision you guys have made along the way changed that?

And have you finally read Bob Dylan's autobiography yet? No, right? You're going to love it like you can't believe Brian, just get to it already!

Hey Bendis, TK here again. I just received my extremely hefty Alias Omnibus in the mail today and read the first fourteen or so issues without stop.

I have a question on issue 12, when Jessica tries to drunkenly seduce the cop outside the bar. From what we can tell, they begin to do the nasty on the squad car, then we are treated to a Mark Bagley flashback. When she wakes, Jessica is in a jail cell. We never learn why. Was she too rough with the guy that he had to lock her up? Was superhero sex too much for him and he had no choice? I'm so confused.

freals, this is probably the most important question:
MUSIC STUFF.
so you are always harping on about the yeah yeah yeah's and how awesome they are.
which is good. cause they are awesome.

but what about the following bands... are you listening to them? are you fucking LOVING them?

pretty girls make graves- their older material has more of a harder feel to it, but her voice still fuckign shines through how awesome it is. and their new album is pretty sweet.

the gossip: i figure, if you are not listening to them, then for some godawful reason you dont know them yet. i dont think it is possible for people to dislike them. they rule. and her voice is so fucking soulful and with the music it makes me pee my pants. please check them out. if i have to send you a burned cd i will.

take a listen. let me know.

Now that the cat is out of the bag in Civil War with Peter Parker unmasking to the world there's a ton of potential to tell good stories after this. I'm interested in what you think about it and do you see Peter going down the similar path he was in during the House of M reality viable where he was basically a celebrity, a scientist and a superhero all in one?

Out of the current New Avengers lineup, who are the characters that you cannot part with no matter what? Spider-Woman and Luke Cage?

Know of any plans for a Avengers Omnibus collecting the "classic" stuff like Avengers Annual 10, Ultron Unleashed, Under Siege (the TPB is out of print) and so on? The only thing I hope they don't do is reprint the stuff people already have on trade paperback since it always sucks to have to double dip for that one story you didn't have tacked onto the stories you do.

The Luke Cage/Spider-Man dynamic is a great one to see play out and I hope to see them buddy up in the future lineup whenever that will be. That said, will we be seeing any special moves between them similar to a Colossus/Wolverine Fastball special? Maybe a wrecking ball type of move between the them where they hurl each other at foes. I basically would like to see stuff like the Pulse confrontation between Spidey, Luke and the Green Goblin where Luke yanks Spider-Man down along with Norman and beats the shit out of Green Goblin.

I know Mike Oeming and yourself are friends and are more in the know about Beta Ray Bill/Avengers happenings so would you happen to know what's going on with Beta Ray Bill? Mike's Stormbreaker mini left a perfectly new status quo, costume, and identity similar to Thor's Donald Blake/Jake Olsen set-up so it puzzles me that Marvel hasn't utilized him in even a team book capacity. Also like Bill Foster, he's one of those characters that one would have assumed to have been a former Avenger but is such a natural fit for the team especially during Thor's absense (pre Civil War) so do your future plans involve him somehow?

This isn't really a question but one thing that annoyed the shit out of me in reading old comics like Celestial Madonna, Kree-Skrull War and X-Men were the blatant over-use of exclamation points after each sentence. I'm really glad writers today have stopped that nonsense in trying to psyche up the reader by having every character yell every fucking thing instead of letting them talk in a more natural way such as in your work so thanks for that and not bumping us over the head with a caption boxes describing every freaking thing on the panel.

I often wonder why your Captain America isn't as commanding and authoritative as he's been with past Avenger lineups. Is this because of the nature of the more free-willing team and him letting them do their different methods or do you think Iron Man should pick up Cap's slack when he doesn't have enough presence?

When can we expect the New Avengers oversized hardcover? I'm already frothing at the mouth for it!

Wolverine's recruitment into the New Avengers (while enjoyable) seemed the least convincing to me on Iron Man's behalf. The reason I say this is because Tony says that Wolverine is that missing element or "edge" similar to when they found Cap but I haven't seen anything in the book that really emphasizes that type of role. Was the use of Wolverine in New Avengers supposed to be similar to your Ultimate X-Men Wolverine where he mercy killed the kid who inadvertedly murdered his town or have the plans to show Wolverine as this missing element gone by the wayside? Also was the Cap/Wolverine relationship of having them butting heads more often (similar to the Cap/Hawkeye dynamic) shot down by Civil War?

Seeing as how you recently did New Avengers #20 to sort of retcon the whole Xorn/Magneto deal, what are your thoughts on the whole Morrison era X-Men and the Sublime entity? Does it have too many hands in MU happenings like the Weapon Plus program and is it too broad of a concept villain for Marvel to fully use at the moment?

PS: Brian Bendis and Evan Handler separated at birth?

Hey Bendego, I have a request. I would like to ask John a question, and have Bendis play host and John the question, because that man is vastly underappreciated. Here goes:

1) What comics have you been enjoying lately?

2) John, have you ever ate a huge slap of pork, a pork chop, some bacon, or anything of the sort while interviewing Bendis?

3) Who was your favorite interview subject?

Okay, now some Bendis questions:

1) Why do I always envision David Cross' face when I hear you speak?

2) How does it feel to be old?

3) I just finished the Alias Omnibus. In the end, Jessica and Scott Lang sit down and Scott says "We made it", to which Jessica replies she's pregnant with Luke Cage's baby. Scott then says "Bye". He had a kid from another relationship, so why is Jessica's pregnancy so large a deal? Is he just that big an asshole?

4) Ann Coulter: what's up with this chick?

5) When you're (accidentally, you married man you) checking out a girl, instead of saying "damn, that chick is hot", could you say "that girl is the temps"? I'm trying to get that to catch on.

6) Do you hate Walt Disney?

Just wanted to say since getting back into comics,I've enjoyed your excellent DD run,Warriors and Venom from USM,and the most recent issues of New Avengers.Keep up the highly entertaining work...

1)The Fantastic was such a quality read and a very fresh and fun take on the Fantastic Four.I really enjoyed the back story and history you introduced for all the characters,it really made me care for the characters a whole lot more.Any chance of seeing you on the book in the future or even the 616 Fantastic Four for that matter?I could really see you pulling off some crazy shit in the 616 FF book. And heck, while I'm at it,what did you think of the movie?I personally loved it and thought it was much better than X3.

2)Your one-shots have been bananas.Illuminati, and then the Annual. My friend was drawn into Civil War and has loved it so far.The first tie in she bought was your Illuminati, which I recommended, and she was really thrown off.She was surprised at how serious a tone the book had,she never thought comics could be this mature.I mean here we have 5 of the most powerful beings in the MU and you have them sitting around talking still making for one of the best reads ever.My question is,do you have any other one-shots planned for the future, and if so,what are the chances of the Illuminati being re-visited again? Will the Illuminati be at all mentioned or referenced in the main CW book?

3)The Collective was my favorite NA story to date. The action was there, the suspense, the great Deodato art.Without getting into specifics, which you already have (Masters of Evil,Elektra, etc),what should fans expect from the book in the future in terms of types of stories?By the way,Disassembled sounds great.

4)You stated that New Avengers will continue investigating the conspiracy with SHIELD and all after Civil War.Considering the fact that new readers may very well be picking up the title once Civil War is done, will there be any type of "recap" of what has been going on with SHIELD and this conspiracy in any shape or form?

1. Will the second Xorn, from Chuck Austen's X-Men run, show up in New Avengers at some point, or are you done with that whole thing? I was really disappointed that X-Editorial made Austen bring him in (according to Austen), only to make him get rid of him before Milligan came on. I think if the Collective showed anything it's that that trainwreck can still be salvaged.

2. Favorite X-Man that isn't Wolverine and why?

3. Quesada has hinted that New Avengers will be getting a permanent artist from the current stable of artists that have worked on the title. Can you PLEASE make it McNiven or Coipel? I like Cho, Deodato and Finch, but one of those two would be ideal.

4. Will you be writing U.S. Avengers in addition to New Avengers? By the way, U.S. Avengers is my subtle guess of the second Avengers on-going title. ;)

I wanted to say thank you and Olivier Coipel for the last page in New Avengers Annual 1. It's beautiful to see heroes as ordinary people. No freaks, no costumes.

Did you expect Ultimate Spider-Man would become that successful as it nowadays?
I wasn't reading comics when USM started, but seeing the sales numbers, it started at a really low level with 50000, it dropped under 50000 with issue 2 and thae didn't stop to climb till the end of the Venom Saga, where it sold more than 110000 and doubling the numbers of issue 1. Totally the opposite of what we're seeing nowadays in the comic market.
Was there a reason, why people didn't buy Ultimate Spider-Man at first?
How did you feel seeing every month more people jumping on the Ultimate Spider-Man bandwagon?

I know it's your own thing, but will the dirt behind SHIELD that the NA found be at least mentioned during civil war? Because seriously, I'm totally buying the superhero registration act right now, but it obviously can't work with a bad guy leading SHIELD, Latveria and Hydra. If at least Cap and Iron Man don't discuss it, they'll basically be ignoring the huge pink elephant sitting in the middle of the room.

Hey Bendy, when you write a comic script do you give description to your artist of how the panel should look (square, circle, etc) or do you allow them to set the page up too the best of there ability? I've been refining my comic writing for awhile now and panel management is one hurtle I'm still struggling with.

I know I'm not Bendis, but my second favorite DD arch of all time (next to Typhoid Mary) is when DD comes back from Hell without his memory and ends up becoming a boxer named Battlin' Jack Murdock who doesn't realize he's blind, then Kingpin realizes who it is and has Bulseye don DD's costume to defame DD. The final fight between Matt and Bullseye (in DD's costume) is really great.

Powers is my favorite comic of the last decade and my most anticipated comic every month its released. I love the direction you are taking Deena and I hope her story keeps spiraling downwards from here. Could you give a list of forseeable Powers arcs?

Also, you should check out the Phineas Poe Omnibus by Will Christopher Baer. He is my favorite modern noir author and this tome collects all three of his Phineas Poe novels. Do you ever read over your own work? Not necessarily for enjoyment but just to check in with your characters' history to clear it up in your mind. Or do you feel you have such a strong grasp of your characters that it's not an issue. Do your editors ever pull you up on stuff that might not gel? Any examples you can think of?

On that same note, if you do re-read your stuff, does it ever make you cringe? For instance, any boners you pulled in Ultimate Spidey that you would have done differently?

hey, I wanted to thank you for writing that awesome Morbius story in USM. The living vamp is my only out-of-left-field fanboy character and it was cool to see someone do right by him.

1) Can we expect to see more of Morbius after the clone saga?

2) Are there any plans for Morbius in the 616? Maybe in the upcoming Blade series? (hopefully not staked though)

3) If you could write one NEW character from the last 5 years which would it be? (no one you created or have already worked on)

4) Since New Avengers is more or less a gateway into any corner of the Marvel Universe, any plans to work with any of these characters in the pages of New Avengers (or any upcoming book for that matter)?

Venom
Norman Osborn
Magneto (now that he's seemingly repowered)
Iron Fist
Quicksilver

Doctor Doom

1. Will we be seeing an Ultimate Speed Demon in Ultimate Spider-man in the near future?

2. With the new Ultimate Power crossover will we be seeing an Ultimate Squadron Sinister or an Ultimate Grandmaster as a lead up to or as a tiein?

3. Will Kitty Pryde and Peter Parker's relationship last or is this just a fling till he gets back together with Ultimate Mary Jane

Hey Bendis. A few questions on dialogue.

I jumped on Ultimate Spidey with the Venom arc and loved it, but have just now picked up the prior issues in the HCs. The teen dialogue sounded a bit awkward, but relatively genunie considering the title started in 2000. However, the teen lingo has not evolved at all. (This is totally dorky but I'll continue) Being 19 and in a college campus, the mecha of all teen/hipster slang, nobody says "tool" anymore. Really, they don't.

I guess my question is, do you research for linguistic patterns? I'm not trying to criticize, dude, you pulled me back into comics and Ult Spidey is the shit, but I was just wondering.

VergilandDante

Hey Mr. Bendis!

1. Could dialog, like the kind used in Kevin Smith's Clerks or Tarintino's Pulp Fiction, be used effectivly in comics.

2. Could the story structure of Pulp Fiction work in comics?

3. Richocet from the Slingers. Make it happen?

4. What's your writing office like?

5. Knowing how much you like dialog, do you tend to write out the dialog of an issue first, then write the panel setups or do the normal "panel setups then dialog" thing?

6. I've sent a few inquery letters to Marvel, and nothing. Not even a rejection letter. Should I do something maybe?

Hi again Mr. Bendis,

Here's another round of questions:

1) On the last podcast, you mentioned that you had some New Avengers stories that had to be nixed because of Civil War's changes. Any possibility that we can see these stories in a "What If the Civil War Never Happened" limited series. I'd love to see where you were planning to take the team before they were disassembled. For that matter, I'd love to see what other creators were planning as well for the other characters.

2) Ultimate Spidey's secret identity seems even more likely to be compromised than that of the original Spidey. However, I do like having one "closeted" Spidey and one "outed" Spidey. I assume you would unmask the Ultimate Spidey if the story dictated that it needed to happen, though I could be wrong. What are your thoughts on Ultimate Spidey's secret identity.

3) I'd like to see some flashbacks with Maria Hill back when Nick Fury was running SHIELD and find out more about why she acts the way she does. Any chance of that happening in a Bendis book down the road?

4) Speaking of SHIELD, they seem to be very much involved with the Superhero Registration Act. I thought they were an international organization. The end of Secret War made it seem like the US was starting to pull their strings a lot more. You've also said that the SHIELD corruption storyline was one that would continue in New Avengers. Will this be coming to the forefront soon after Civil War or will it come later?

5) I'd really love to see Dirk Anger and HATE show up in some non-Nextwave books. Or is he the sole property of Mr. Ellis?

6) Nova and Johnny Storm seem to be in great positions to be POV characters for the post-Civil War landscape. One returns from space to find his team destroyed and villified. The other wakes up from a coma and finds that everyone hates each other. Do you have any interest in writing either of those characters in any of your post-Civil War books?

7) How about Ares? I know you probably can't say much if anything, but I think he and Wolverine would work very well together.

Thanks again for your time.

VergilandDante

I just bought Fortune and Glory. Loved it. Thought it very entertaining. Hoorah. First question is related to that.

It seems, and I could be wrong, that you had a bit of acid to throw at the "mainstream" comics back in the day, what with saying that anything with capes, claws, or big boobs was a mainstream comic, and judging from the art of the imaginary comics rack, you must have thought it was all pretty shitty.

Now, I'm not defending 90's comics, because there were some pretty terrible ones. There were some good ones, but it's like 80's music. When you say you hate 80's music, you're not talking about Public Enemy, you're talking about Wang Chung.

But how would Fortune and Glory era Bendis feel about 2006 Bendis writing books with capes, claws, and big boobs?

Second question. The first of your b&w solo comics I bought was Total Sell Out. I totally freakin' loved it. Can we get some more?

Oh man, it's time for fanboy question time!

So in the first volume of the Ultimates Furry talks to Banner about the Hulk incident and Spider-Man running into him. So, the first volume plays out (maybe a few months all in all? Little less perhaps?) Then volume 2 starts one year after the end of the first volume (I checked my issue, it does say one year later) this would mean that Peter had been Spidey for more then a year! You keep saying its been about nine months but we know it would have been a little longer! Now, you can pussy out and use the fact that Furry still has both arms and you haven't dealt with the attack on New York yet, but you said once Millars run is out you will. At that point won't you have to allow a time gap in the series...or just ignore it?

Here's my true question; Does it piss you off that Mark Millar has created this problem in the space time continuum in the ultimate universe?

God I feel like such a loser of a fanboy right now...

I remember going to Super City comics every day after school back in Jr. High and thinking you were Matthew Broderick's brother. Of course...that's when you had hair. Haha, anyway I think you should really introduce an Ultimate Darkhawk! A little religious arc in USM where Chris Powell is a church boy, son of a priest who gets killed by High Priest Johnathan Blaze who's secretly using the power of the demon Zarthos to get ahead in the church. Chris finds out why his dad dies, and finds a cross shaped crystal and thinks it a sign from god [actually a lost Kree artifact/weapon] and uses it's power to get revenge for his father's death. Meanwhile, Danny Ketch, who can utilize the powerful soul of his ancestor Noble Kale to become a flame faced spirit of vengeance enters the fray as well to stop his evil brother and gets his spirtual flesh burned off, so when Danny changes from then on, it's a flaming skull instead of Noble Kale's flaming face. Hey Brian, just a few more questions:

1) I'm curious as to what your stance was on Ant-Man as an Avenger during your days of Alias and DD before you wrote Disassembled and killed him off. It seemed as if you were unaware that he was an Avenger at the time so was the reason he was killed off because you heavily disliked him as an Avenger or was it because he would be the least missed out of the list you were given of kills?

2) Will Ares joining the Mighty Avengers make sense given the CW events and his stance in his own series on humanity? I remember Mike Oeming saying that he probably wasn't going to see him as an Avenger anytime soon but perhaps he didn't expect the character to be more well liked after the mini.

3) Mark Ricketts left the Iron Man Dissassembled book open ended regarding Mandarin's son, will we ever see more of him? I'd love to see a new generation Mandarin vs the updated Extremis level Iron Man.

4) Will we ever see more of Scorpio and the new Zodiac from Geoffrey Johns's run in your future Avengers books? They've really fallen by the wayside with no other writer picking up on it. Personally they would fit in right away as part of either the Mighty Avengers or the New Avengers rogue gallery given their ability to both play around with world capitals or do secretive and shadow methods. Plus it's a good chance to introduce new members of your own into what was shown as a group of shadows.

5) What are your favorite Wordballoon podcasts?

What book that you have created that you would like to have featured in Oprah's Book Club? And have you or Marvel ever tried to contact Oprah regarding a Book of the Month?

Never seen the show myself, but my wife and mother-in-law read everything she puts her name on - perhaps this would be another way to put asses in the seats for comic books?

I wonder if Bendis will ever outsource the work to a voice double. Or maybe run a loop of himself laughing and saying "wait and see." It's about time somebody made him a celebrity soundboard.

Dear Mr. Bendy,

Some days I love trying to break into comics, and other days it feels insurmountable and I find myself not enjoying the work. If I don't love it, say, 90% of the time, does that mean I should find something else to do? Did your early days ever feel like a dull grind at times? Did you ever almost give up?

Hey Bendis! I just wanted to say that New Avengers #22 was probably the best issue of a comic I've ever read and has confirmed my love for comics all in 22 pages.

Also, just wanted to let John know that his performance in the Podcast panel was great. You were the most engaging and hilarious part of the panel and congrats on the Chaykin interview. It was just awesome to hear you shoot the shit with that man.

Thanks guys, sincerely, both for the great work and the Q&A. We fans truly appreciate this.

In the Alias story arc where Jessica goes to find the missing girl, was the police man she hooks up with modeled after Luke Wilson?

He was declared dead. He was an old man who had a heart attack when Ock picked up his limo and tossed it around like a football.

I just got the last trade I needed to complete my run of Powers vol 1, and I have every issue of vol 2. I've got all of my Daredevils, New Avengers, House of M, Ultimate books, etc.

What I DON'T have is any of the Jinxworld books (sorry!).

So, my question is, which one should I get first? Jinx? I've gotta know!

P.S. What did you think of Superman Returns and X3?

Mr. Bendis,

In Ultimate Six, Fury says that each of the villains knowingly altered their genetics, but Doc Ock was created from the accident that also created the Green Goblin. It would appear that Octavius did not intentionally fuse the arms onto his body, yet he is arrested by SHIELD for voluntarily becoming an illegal genetic mutation. What gives?

This is a general question, not really for Bendis -- when will we see the next Bendis Q&A podcast? The last one was May, correct? The only reason I'm riding you is because I greatly enjoy those broadcasts and it seems so long since the last one.

Last week I asked about the second monthly you and Oeming were working on. You responded with "??" I swear I remember reading an announcment from some summer con last year that you guys were working on a second monthly. I even remember you saying this was possible because Oeming was capable of drawing two monthlies. Am I confusing this with something else?

1) If Olivia Newton John was your "first", who was your second

1a) Also, is that why you named your daughter as such? Awful.

2) Where did Ultimate Punisher find the time to get his hair cut between breaking out of jail and firing a rocket launcher a day later?

3) Do you ever see yourself owning a Segway?

4) Any recommended bathroom reading?

Hey Brian,

First off, thanks for clearing up the Xorn mess. I appreciate the fact that you made an effort, and in my honest opinion, succeeded at fixing that mess.

I just read Ultimate Spider-Man Annual # 2, and I'm intrigued by the last scene with DD visiting Moon Knight. Will the ramifications of that meeting be explored in another mini-series? If that's the case, will it be drawn by Mark Brooks?

I'm looking forward to reading Mighty Avengers. It's a good time to be an Avengers fan right now...but I'm wondering: why revert back to the ape-like Beast? The current version is WAY cooler.

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions once again...

Pat
