Netflix Rolling Roadshow
Famous movies in famous places.

Imagine watching "Jaws" from a raft in the ocean just off the Martha's Vineyard beach where it was filmed . . . or watching "Escape from Alcatraz" in the cell block where Frank Morris, played by Clint Eastwood, was locked up.

This August, the Netflix Rolling Roadshow celebrates classic American movies by screening them at the locations they made famous. Each screening is an interactive special event (think scavenger hunts, road rallies, a high school prom, even spending the night on Alcatraz Island). Some screenings will also include cast reunions and question-and-answer sessions with the filmmakers.

August 2
The Warriors
Coney Island
New York City

August 5
Jaws
State Beach
Martha's Vineyard

August 8

That's a great idea! But I'm going to have to wait for My Own Private Idaho or The Hunted in Portland, OR.

one question?

will they do fargo in fargo? cuz none of it was shot in fargo. and only one bar scene was set in fargo. the only real connection to fargo that it has is that the stolen cars came from fargo. most of the movie is in the twin cities.

I'm willing to bet the people who live in those residential areas have seen enough of those films.

People are missing the point. They're not necessarily screening movies where they were filmed. They're screening movies where they were set.

Yay, we'll be able to watch Days of Thunder while driving really fast and turning left :)

I'll admit, I'd love to watch the Shining at that hotel :D

no i get the point but talking about that isnt as much fun as speculating about goofy locations to show movies.

we just showed Fargo on the side of a building here in fargo to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the film. you could sit in your car and tune to a radio station for the audio.

Ahem. That's the "Very Large Array."

It's okay most people are overwhelmed by the technical lingo.

I think I heard that the forest from Jedi was cut down after filming.... Logging or something depressing like that.

Gotta say, I'm pretty bummed by the NYC showing. While Coney Island is cool and all that, I thought they'd have a better flick considering the movies that were filmed in New York.
