Simple 'nuff. Do you enjoy or support the marriage of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson-Parker and the storytelling possibilities it provides, or would you prefer Spider-Man to be a man who is not married?

HOw about a button for "Could care less"? I don't think non-Spidey readers really have much interest in this topic.

Marriage all the way but i'm now resigned to the fact that were getting a sure to suck Mini-series from JMS and Joe Quesada in 2007 that will have them split up.

The marriage between Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson-Parker is and should be considered by the powers that be a bedrock foundation to the Spider-Man mythos.
Gwen Stacy is dead. Felicia Hardy is a criminal.
And I don't want to see 22 pages of Peter on a date.
Joe Quesada and everyone else have their collective heads up their collective gluteous maximus for their plans to change this.

They should turn the Spider-Marriage in to a Spider-Gay Marriage.

They've been married since I've started reading comics. My own parents and all my friends parents are divorced. I don't want to see Spider-Man go that route.

And they could have with Clone Spidey! ;-)

I like the marriage. It should stick.
I hate characters who bounce back and forth in stasis.
Reaching adulthood was the best thing possible.

Or an option for people that do read the Spider-Man titles, but still have no preference one way or the other?

Why would a non-Spider-Man reader who doesn't care even read or vote in a poll about Spider-Man's marriage?

I honestly don't care. One way or the other. I admit I came into Spidey just like not even two issues after he got married. That stuff was good. Than we got whiney little bitch MJ. Oh I'm smoking to compensate for the fact I'm married to a superhero. Oh I'm a soap star. Oh look plot line from Days of Our lives as our evil landlord locks me up because he's obsessed with me! Oh look stalker! I just don't care. Where's my option?

I'm 19, so the two have been married my whole life, however this isn't how I know them best. I got into comics through the animated X-Men/Spidey series. I then started by the Marvel Adventures line, which had a single Peter, and from there, I bought the Essentials and Untold Tales of Spider-Man.
I think the possibilites for engaging dramatics in Peter's life would be much better if he were single, or at least dating and not married. However, I'm not opposed to the continuation of MJ and Peter's marriage either.

I'm somewhere around there. I don't know how I got into Spidey, but I know Spider-Man and his Amazing friends got me more obssesed with Spidey. Though I admit I always wanted him to hook up with Firestar. But for MJ...honestly I don't care. Single Spidey or Married Spidey. Just give me some damn good stories that don't depend on Shock events. Siiiiigh. Someday I hope. :-(

The only problem with his marriage is an extension of the worst thing about the Spider-Man books: abandoning the supporting cast. People feel that his marriage is boring and that MJ especially is boring, but that's because Marvel took all their friends & co-workers away more than because they got married. Having effectively removed every one in their lives but Aunt May & The Avengers, they're left to stare at each other all the time. It's boring, but it's not the marriage's fault...

Breaking up their marriage is a dumb sales ploy.
I could get on a soapbox saying it's also sending the wrong message to kids, but I'll refrain.
I'm still upset they turned Yellowjacket into a wife beater.

Leave the marriage alone.

Ummm, if they say that both a divorced and widowed peter parker is out of the question, then why on earth does Joe Q keep bringing it up.
I love the spider-marriage, it gives Peter something tangable, some support, it makes him more realistic. He goes out and comes back home to someone who loves him. To have him go out fighting crime then coming back to go on a date, just doesn't ring to life like to me.

Keep him married for God's sake most people are use to him being married and for those of us who remember him being single for us it cool the guy that couldn't get the time of day from from a girl in highschool is now marrying a supermodel to quote from Mel Brook's History of the World: "It's good to be the king."

if i want to read about single spidey, i can (and do) read ultimate spidey. i like them being married, and really, it shouldn't be THAT hard for the writers to give them a better supporting cast at some point. just because a couple is married doesn't mean they can't have friends.

I'm squarely in the not caring camp.
However, I am really annoyed with Quesada on this subject. Let the writers tell stories, dammit. If the writers have great stories for married Peter, then let them do it. If the story organically moves toward a seperation, then fine. This editorial mandate bullshit is the reason so many people stopped reading comics in the 90s. The fucking clone saga was the awful result the last time Marvel tried to create a young, single, swinging Spider-man with heavy handed manipulation. grrr.

What does it say to our youth about commitment and family values if they break up? Just because Quesada doesn't like it doesn't mean it's a problem. I'm getting a little sick of the current group of editors and writers thinking that big sweeping shock value is the way to go. Creativity anyone?

i'm a spidey reader and i really don't care...if he is, fine. if he isn't, fine. but, given that he currently is, if he becomes 'isn't' it damn well better make sense.

I think the way JMS has written the quiet moments between Pete and MJ has been my favourite part of the book for the past few years.
I think Joey Q is making the mistake of trying to revert things to how he remembers, not what makes sense today.
Peter is a human being which is what makes him so popular, making him an icon that doesn't change and can be described in a sentence is making him into Superman.

they have been married as long as i have been reading spider-man, without mj the book just feels wrong.
also as a divored man, whose wife left him, there is really no good way to handle them seperating well, and also i dont feel like reliving that. i mean if i want to see a non-married spidey i can read ultimate, that works fine.
And finally, i remember reading years ago, i beleave in the 30th annversery issue of amazing, with the hologram cover, an artical by stan lee where he says one of the things that makes spidey uneek is that he has grown and matured over the years. i remember reading this and being like "yeah"

I don't mind if they break 'em up as long as it makes for a killer story.
I don't mind if they stay together as long as it makes for a killer story.
At the moment, killer Spider-Man stories seem to be confined to books that Bendis writes.
Spidey's marital status has been irrelevant to the killer-ness of said stories.
That being said, I voted to break those fuckers up.

I'd rather he wasn't married, but I don't want the bridge to be crossed again.
Not really an easy thing to poll though, because I bet a lot of people are voting keep/lose the marriage.

I'm for it. It gives him a stable lifestyle and if he was single, his motto "with great power there must also come great responsibility" would mean nothing because he wouldn't have a stable responsibility as an adult if he was single than if he was married.

The only thing I can think of is if it turns out their Marriage was never leagal. Like the Chameleon impersonated Mary Jane's preacher uncle. That's there way out. The marriage was never legal. Cause they don't want divorced Peter or Widow Peter. Than marriage was never legal to begin with.
