One of the big reasons a lot of people give for hating Wonder Man is the amount of times that he has died. Jean Grey has dies just as many times. Why don't people transfer some of that hate to her?

I keep meaning to check out this Avengers of which people speak...I vaguely remember some of them I think. Was there a guy who had powers that he could become really dense? Or is that just reality and we elected him to the Presidency? Thor! Thor was with them right? And for some reason Thor was metal if I remember correctly. Ooh it's all coming back now. And then they had a West Coast branch that operated out of the Playboy mansion or something...ok maybe my memory is still a little foggy.

Well, I don't like either of 'em to be honest.. but hate WM for different reasons.
He's just an utterly boring character. A foil character. If it wasn't for Beast or Wanda, he'd just be Generic Man.
The Hollywood thing never seemed lame to me.
Visually, I never liked the design.
Etc, etc..
The only part I liked was the beginning when he was a bad guy that changed to stop his brother or something. Everything afterwards was downhill for me :)

I hate him right now because I'm trying to read through West Coast Avengers and he goes straight from the Christmas Tree to the Wondermullet. It makes it difficult to read.

I actually dig the liesure suit look, but he'll be closer to his HoM duds when we see him in the Civil War arc.

Two points:
One - Jean Grey has only actually DIED once. By Magneto's hand, at the end of Morrison's run. The first big death was the Phoenix, not Jean. And there was another one issue death that really shouldn't count, because EVERY comic character has been pronounced dead for an issue or two.
Two - Wonderman has a lot of untapped potential. I liked him a LOT better when he was simply strong and indestructable. The "I'm made of energy" Wonderman does nothing for me. I lovecd when he was doing Hollywood stuntwork, and trying to break into movies. I'd love to see that revisited.

Many would say that the Phoenix death was Jean, but they retconned it to be Phoenix when they found the cocoon. Personally, I don't really give a toss.

I would say there are more Wonder Man fans than haters. Wonder Man doesn't have more haters than any other character, there are lots of Captain America haters and Wolverine haters. For the same reasons a character resonates with some readers, it becomes obnoxious to others. Different readers, different personalities, different tastes.
Me, I think he is the best thing since bread and butter, just get rid of that freaking stupid kirby dots energy look and the ability to fly on his own. Wonder Man is at his best when he is fighting with his uniform all torn up, buff, veiny and all pumped up like a human hulk, not flying covered in purple dots like a freaking human torch of energy. Those purple fancy schmatzy dots are plain sissy.

Anyone remember Simon's small part in Civil War: Frontline in the Atlantean Sleeper Cell story? He seemed quite the sellout embezzeling money from a charity.
So I gotta ask:
Skrull or No Skrull :Ponder:

Embezzlement has been a big part of Simon's game from the beginning.

BULL!!! If you want to destroy the hero you make Frontline's accusations true, no one including me is going to like a scum of the earth superhero who embezzles from his own charity foundation. Simon became a hero because in his first appearance he repented and that was his big shame. Writers that followed (like Michelinie & Shooter) planned on making the Grim Reaper the real guilty party. Only Englehart, the creator of the Vision obviously ticked off by the way Wonder Man was stealing his creation's thunder wrote a story where Simon makes public he was guilty of the first embezzlement and even then it was under the influence of his big brother the Grim Reaper that a very young Simon Williams made that mistake. No way after all this years Wonder Man the experienced hero would embezzle again and from his own fundation. Plus in his limited series the person he left in charge of the foundation, his agent Neal Sorayan is revealed to be a super-villain. There is a lot of ways of proving false this crap put out in Frontline.

Simon embezzled ONCE, when his business was completely falling apart. He later regretted it deeply, and publically admitted his mistake. He atoned for it, and it makes no sense that he would do it again. That bit from Front Line made no sense at all (especially considering that SHIELD didn't need to blackmail him, since he was already a registered hero working for them).

Eeeewww! NO!!!
The safari jacket may not be Simon's worst costume (the infamous "christmas tree" costume from WCA #14-24 comes to mind), but its gotta be in the top three.

After Cho I don't hate the red safari as much as I used to. I prefer the new costume though. In Ms. Marvel he is still two costumes behind. Is he gonna be wearing the new one? In Melo's preview page he is still wearing the really old one.

Does anyone know where the incident of Spider-Man and Hawkeye trashing Simon Williams lad was chronicled?
