In my never-ending quest to keep the Bendis Board up to date on all things BSG, I stumbled across this website that Sci-Fi has set up for Emmy consideration, including BSG. You can see who the show is putting up for each category and video clips of performances. I really hope it's nominated. It absolutely deserves to be.

On an unrelated note, the Season 2 soundtrack is up for preorder at:

http://www.lalalandrecords.com/Battlestar_Galactica_Season_2.html

It's also available at Amazon, but from the above site you can get a copy autographed by the composer. I'm getting it if only for the awesome "Prelude to War" music from the episode, "Pegasus." You can listen to brief audio clips from the soundtrack at the above link.

I'm bumping this only because I received my autographed copy of the Season 2 Soundtrack today!

It is awesome. Some incredible tracks here. "Roslin and Adama" is great. "Prelude to War" is amazing. "The Cylon Prisoner" is haunting.

I highly recommend it to any BSG fan. :)

By the way, over at the official Sci-Fi website, you can view clips of the acceptance speeches by Ron Moore and David Eick for the Peabody Awards, hosted by Jon Stewart.

The acceptance speech of Trey Parker and Matt Stone for "South Park" is also over there, but only because they praise the show and cite themselves as fans in their acceptance speech. :)

How do the soundtracks of the miniseries, Season 1, and Season 2 compare?

How do the soundtracks of the miniseries, Season 1, and Season 2 compare?

Personally, I am loving Season 2's soundtrack. The balance of themes is better, overall.

It starts out with the "Colonial Anthem," which prominently features the original Battlestar Galactica theme (from the 70s) in a way that works surprisingly well.

All of the big themes that I remember hearing in the episodes are here:

That twangy disembodied voice theme from the scene between Baltar and Gina in "Pegasus."

"Prelude to War" contains the "I'm getting my men" music from "Pegasus."

"One Year Later" features that music from the finale as the camera slowly zooms in on Baltar's head on the desk.

"Worthy of Survival" is the music from the final scenes of Season 2.

"Roslin and Adama" is that famous music from the Roslin/Adama kiss when she was dying of cancer.

Plus there are other themes from early episodes of Season 2, like the music playing in the introduction of "Home, Part 1."

There's a great mix of themes, here.

It's tough to compare, but overall, I'd say I like Season 2's soundtrack better than the miniseries and Season 1. It's less uneven and each theme seems more distinguishable than those on Season 1 and the miniseries.
