Thing #6 charted at 102.A huuuuuge jumpe from March's 121.
What the heck is going on here?MTU sells much less than Thing and remains being published?Marvel dropped the ball on this one hard. The numbers don't lie!

That is pretty interesting.

I believe Marvel canceled it pre-emtively because of the dropping pattern. but as this is a jump UP, we may see a different reaction
but by now, it's too late to have a #9 out a month after #8

I hate to be a spoil sport, (really, I do, nobody wants the Thing back more than me) but in March, although it ranked at 121 Thing had a sales index of 29.15 but in April where it ranked 102 it had a sales index of 28.23. I know that these numbers "value" can change from month to month, but lets wait until wee see some real number sales analysis before we cry (more) foul.

When I switched from mail order to buying from the shop i asked to pull the Thing and was told that it was a limited only..gah.
Anyway - i'm curious to see the actual sales numebrs on those rather than just the rankings.
Basically what Dingo said! :)

I think the index number and chart position is very dependent on the other top comics.

The index number is only dependent on the Batman numbers. And they all vary from month to month; it's very difficult to compare the chart placements from month to month (except of course when publishers such as Dynamite release sale quantity information...)

Sales went up from 20300 to 20600 from issue 5 to issue 6.
It is not much of an increase but if they continue to go up on issues 7 and 8 then it will definately give the powers that be a bit more food for thought with deciding what to do with the Thing.

I could be wrong, but 20k (and Bendis says these numbers are always wrong and they could higher) doesn't really seem like a number to cancel over. I could be wrong.

It is not just a case of whether or not the sales mean that they are making money, they also have to consider, if we gave Slott another title, would that sell more?
Regardless of what it is, the first issue usually has high sales so they will get a spike in sales.
