View Full Version : A way to get Bendis & Bru's Daredevil/Batman crossover

With all the major players working for marvel...wouldn't it be a cool idea is Bendis and Brubaker went forward with the infamous Daredevil/Batman crossover that was blocked by DC...only instead we got it as an Icon book using analogues of the characters from Marvel and DC.

We even have Maleev and Sean Phillips working for Marvel to work with their respective counterparts. It could be a big event book that you could even take up a notch further than you might normally since none of the valuable movie properties would be "harmed" by a brutal story of street-level crimefighting. It's not like it would be in continuity anyway if it were a legit company crossover. Especially with all the hype that this would be the story that DC wouldn't allow to be made...you would sell a ton of them.

Tell me this wouldn't work.

Or just use any of the already existing Batman analogues from the Marvel Universe(s)... just not Hawk Owl, please.

Wouldn't be the same if it wasn't Batman.

Maybe not...but it could be better.

Just think if Watchmen had used the original Carlton heroes instead of the analogues that Moore switched to. Do you think it would have been as good?

Maybe. It's possible at least. For me part of the appeal, part of the fun is being able to read Batman as written by Bendis. Not Nighthawk or Moon Knight or The Shroud. I've seen the avengers face the Squadron Supreme a bunch of times. It was never as cool as when they finally faced the JLA.

I think this would be better if we stuck with new characters that were just closely related analogues to the actual Batman and Daredevil characters (and supporting cast) rather than using established characters.

I think established characters should only be used if it was being done as planned...but since that won't happen I think all new analogues is the best choice. No baggage except what the writers intend.
