We just had a PHENOMENAL FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, yesterdat!!! Thank you to everyone who joined us for the HUGE PARTY that we had... beating FREE COMIC BOOK DAY Records at the store!!!
Because of everything going on yesterday, I didn't see the mailman come in. Later in the day, I was able to check the mail and found the following letter (dated May 3rd, 2006) waiting for me in a packet:
"Dear Retailer,
Congratulations! Your store has been nominated for the 2006 Will Eisner "Spirit of Comics'' Retailer" Award. This Award was created by Will Eisner as a way to honor the hard work put in by comic book store owners."
It seemed only fitting that we received this information on a special day like yesterday, but...above all...
THANK YOU! To all of our subscribers, regulars and industry professionals who have visited the store during our last three and a half years... and for making the store what it is. Just being nominated for this award is honestly an honor in itself. We would not be the shop that we are if it weren't for everyone's support during the rollercoaster of year that we have had since our last nomination in 2005.
We are honestly humbled by this nomination...and we will now begin the process of assembling the Nomination Packet to be considered by the nomination committee in San Diego this summer....including trying to put together a five minute video encapsulating the store!!!
We'll keep you posted...and, once again, thank you all for a spectacular and amazing FREE COMIC BOOK DAY and for sending the ballots in that made this nomination possible.
From all of us here at the shop...please know...That we simply cannot express our gratitude enough!
