I thought I was special getting the Turner variant for #1, but apparently its a 50/50 ratio on these Wolverine: Origins variant covers.

True. But at least with Dillon issue 2 will be out before Marvels 2009 event :p
Great cover by the way, to stay mostly on topic. I think this'll be the only issue I don't get Quesada's cover for. The regular issue 2 cover is just weak.

if i remember correctly, he's made out of plastic, or some such
and he's heavily medicated
he's supposed to be the next generation Bucky or something

http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/darenuke.htm
Powers/Abilities: Nuke was very strong for a normal human (possibly Class 10, but at least above peak human) and almost impervious to pain and conventional injury. He also possessed superhuman speed with peak range of 700 mph (see comments). The latter was due to his skin which had been reinforced with some sort of plastic. He was completely insane, a savage fighter, and good with a firearm. He took red pills (amphetamines) to boost his adrenaline in a fight, white (barbiturates) to bring him down and blue (sedatives) to keep him calm and relaxed.

That IS weird. I mean, born again's obviously very respected, but there's just so many ways to bring back a character like that. I don't think it's a "it cheapens the original story" case at all.

Eh, Morrison didn't say he was alive. Just retconned that he was part of the weapon x project.

I think it has more to with him being completely 1 dimensional. His whole life revolves around eating pills. He was obviously a throw away gag in my mind... I bet Frank Miller would find his return pretty funny...

He's silly, alright, but he's a psychotic hardcore bad-ass. Comic-book writers KILL for those types of villains. And this is a character that could've been brought back so easily.

They had to get away from the snakes!
Oh, sorry. I now feel shame.
And Nuke was Weapon VII:
Weapon VII
Weapon VII, aka Project: Homegrown, experimented on human soldiers during the Vietnam War. Some of the known participants who died in Project: Homegrown included Andrew Perlmutter, Michael Labash, John Walsh, James MacPherson and fourteen other unknown recruits. The only known successful subject of Project: Homegrown was Nuke, who had armored implants under his epidermis and was addicted to powerful steroids.

So Nuke has superspeed in the Quicksilver range just because he has plastic skin? Hunh?

probably because the character's stupid
like with almost all of Miller's superhero stuff, Born Again falls apart in the 3rd act

it all starts out as humanistic looks at people struggling with both themselves and the adversity around them, and always devolves into a romanticized look at people punching each other

It's funny 'cuz it's true... Did Year One end that way? It's been so long I can't even remember how it ends... but I seem to recall it having a pretty strong finish...

Yeah, it looks kind of phoned in to me as well.
The only thing that I really like in it is the fact that Wolverine is wearing the brown costume.

see I just don't care about these variant covers because they're never put out on the wed they're released. but the following week they're on the wall and marked up to $20+ dollars. I wish they'd print the run half and half because some of these covers are very nice but I'm just not going to pay $20-30 for them.

Actually, I thought Born Again's ending lost a bit at the end too. It went from Daredevil to Daredevil & Avengers.
