Well I don't know if your reading the Sentry Mini...his boots,belt,neck cover and gauntlet sleeves have taken a much darker tone. Instead of it being all light blue and kind of corny,they gave it a darker edge while leaving the cape blue. It suits him much better than the all light blue look.

The whole cover is awesome, but I'll be honest, I'm not digging the cape. Not sure if it's the color or how it was drawn, but there's something I'm not liking there, sorry :surrend:

Oops! No I haven't been. It just seems out of place to have a bright blue cape when nothing else on his costume is that color anymore. Is there any particular reason in the Sentry Mini-series why they left the cape bright blue and didn't darken it like the rest of his suit?

Yellow and blue make him look like he's in his pajamas, the dark "leather" looking parts add a more serious look to the outfit. It's also the reason the underwear like Superman's were dropped. To be honest I dislike capes, but his is kinda cool because it's clipped on at the shoulders as opposed to being a regular cape. It's only the second time I've ever drawn him so I followed the reference from JRJR's work pretty closely. I think I will make the cape feel much heavier and darker in the future.

Although, when I first painted him he was much darker all over, but then I was told that he glows when he charges up in battle so I had to figure out how to make him look slightly illuminated and as a result the cape ended up too washed out.

Thank god you did too. Knew it was good to make him darker looking on the other area's that is why in young avengers he has darker themed tones

No idea how long that fight lasts....Sentry was punking out a cosmic being like terrax without breaking a sweat and ripped carnage a new one....literally.
One punch from Sentry and Tony is gonna need more extremis to regrow what's left of his body.

very good piece! i like that the character is coming out a little more realistic than in the John Romita and Frank Cho issues, both very good, but in those i cannot wrap my mind about it, he's either a regular superman or something too far from the origins. just my 2 cents

Haha, yes, I can't say I wasn't reminded of that quite a bit when I was reading the NA Sentry arc too. But then Apolo from the Authority is very similar too.

I am still to nail down the exact look I will go with. It's a challenge to make the yellow outfit work in a realistic style/ So I think the answer is to either make it darker yellow or to wash it out so it's very pale. We'll see.

Well he doesn't have to be straight out yellow...why not just a darkish gold look. He is the golden guardian afterall. In New Avengers arc where david finch did the pencil's you will notice it's more of a dark gold color and tone rather than straight out yellow.

I like the dark black leather for the gauntlets and boots and collar section. It gives it a more natural feel.

Looks great. Sometimes superhero costumes just look like a colored naked guy, but the Sentry looks like he's wearing a costume. You can see the cloth. Nice.

Just saw this and I agree. The black leather with the blue cape doesnt fit well with me. I'm a fan of the Sentry and I prefer the dark ass blue leather like in the last issues of the Sentry. I hope its only on this cover and doesnt become the norm on the Sentry.

He looks fine in the Sentry mini, the blue parts of his costume are the same hue on his cape. The colors match well and everything.
