When does Big Max #1 come out?

It MIGHT be out tomorrow.
But I think it was bumped one week to free up more press time for one of the Big Two (Marvel and DC) books that was running late.
It SHOULD be out April 5th.
I'll be doing a signing for it in on the 5th in New YorK City.
It'll be at Jim Hanley's Universe across the street from the Empire State Building (on the South side). I believe the signing will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
At least Thing #5 came out today. So I can stand waiting for Big Max until next week.

Damn my LCS with their "ooooh our shipment was late" every damn week. Feels like I have been waiting for my Thing fix for ages :(
Probably wont get here untill monday and I have to avoid spoiler threads.
Hope they have a Big Max on the shelves cause I didn't order one....
I just skipped through it (damn lack of time *sigh*) and believe me - it was/is well worth the wait (not that I expected it not to be). :)

I wish there was a smiley for bawling my eyes out
Why would you do that? Then you couldn't read Thing and She-Hulk and all those other Slott books anymore. ;)

I feel a right idiot for not pre-ordering it when I heard about it in January, I can only presume that's around the time all the bad stuff got dropped on me and I was too distracted to keep the new book by my current favourite writer at the front of my mind. I hope there'll be one on the shelf at my local!

(BTW, they also gave THING #5 their highest rating this week. Double huzzah!)

My comic shop isn't getting this or the place I order them from online. It's a shame... I wanted to get this.

I just saw the Big Max preview over on IGN and thought I would come over here and ask you about it. Is it a mini series or an ongoing. I haven't bought any of your work yet, but anything with a monkey in it makes me laugh. Any chance you will be in Dallas sometime?

It's a one-shot isn't it?

Giant monkeys can't be wrong - unfortunately i found out abou tthis too late to order it myself (normally order my comics online)and its pretty much zero chance my store gets it either..(Dingo and I have the same shop) I'll try though.

Hey, Dan!
I'm doing a review of this for Broken Frontier. :)
Is this still coming out tomorrow? I was told it was delayed again...
One other thing...how long ago did you write this issue.
(I already read the pdf, btw. Good stuff. I enjoyed the parallels to Marvel and DC characters. :))

I can't find it on ebay.

Hi.
Just wanted to give a quick BIG MAX update.
According to Diamond BIG MAX has been confirmed for an APRIL 19th release!
Finally!!!
So? What happened? In a nutshell: We're a small indie.
We got bumped around. And then we had a slight printing problem with our crop marks. It's all sorted out. The book's been printed. We JUST missed getting into the stores on April 12th-- but we are CONFIRMED for April 19th!
Woohoo!
So, there you go.
If you see a copy, give us a look. Worlds will not die. Lives will not be changed forever. Everything you know won't be a lie.
However, you will see a flying gorilla fight a goofy supervillain. And that's the important thing.
Ape and at 'em!

Good thing I saw the previews page. I couldn't find it online to add to my pull list. Nothing showed up when I searched "Big Max" or "Dan Slott" for Big Max. But then I saw the preview cover and the "Mr. Comics" in the corner.
Independents > Mr. Comics. > Check box for "Big Max".
Looks pretty good, and I can't wait to read a few issues. :)
Big Max ist on the invoices for next week. YES!

Just finished reading it. It's great fun, and I can't believe how much Dan jammed into one issue. We meet a gazillion characters - all memorable. We see Big Max take down two villains in awesome fights. We get his history, his secret identity, his secret longing, and most importantly, his sense of humor.
Great book! Is this an ongoing, a mini, a one-shot, nu?

I can't wait to read it next week (bi-weekly mailorder comics for me). I get a double dose of Slottness with Thing 6! :D
The question on Big Max being an on-going, one shot, or mini has been asked several times but I have yet to see an answer...hmm...
One would think it depends on sales - but that's silly, no? ;)

That might make the decision between a limited series and an open-ended series, but if there's more than one issue planned, the second one would have to be finished and solicited by now, I'd expect.

I am pretty sure Big Max is going to be a one-shot. The only reason that Dan can publish it, given he has a contract with Marvel, is that the work was done and finished before he signed with Marvel. If he had already written more issues for Big Max before the contract then those could probably be published too, and if the response is good he can write more after the contract.

I seem to recall Dan saying that the artist, James Fry, has his blessing to continue the book on his own.
