I just read the Kree/Skrull War tpb, and at the end, Clint Barton has gone missing. What happened to him?

He lost his size changing powers and crash landed back on earth. He was stranded somewhere in Europe for a while and met up with an amnesia ridden Hercules before reuniting with The Avengers in a skirt.

Good question. There's probably some story to be told in there, huh?

Yeah, I just told it.

Maybe Wanda warped reality so Lord Retail read "House of M" where I typed "Kree/Skrull War"?

Maybe Wanda warped reality so Lord Retail read "House of M" where I typed "Kree/Skrull War"?I guess he thought my story was far fetched. Not everyone considers this outfit to include a skirt.

Fortunately, he didn't stay with it for long.

Isn't that where he's picked up from in Busiek's Avengers Forever? He's still got Goliath's costume but a bow and "regular" arrows and he thinkis the Kree/Skrull War is still going on. So there is sort of a story told...

I think the trade ends before the issue where the Avengers "reassemble" back at the mansion and realize that Hawkeye/Goliath is still missing. Since Cap told him to stop the ship and bomb "at any cost" and the ship never made it to earth, they are trying not to assume the worst - that he destroyed the ship and himself (sound familiar?). Thor and Iron Man go off to "search" for him (and Iron Man actually has a nice thought about Hawkeye, which is probably the last time they got along in Marvel history).

Of course, other trouble pops up in the meantime and they forget about looking for him and he shows up out of nowhere in the middle of a fight scene with a seriously lousy attitude and a "skirt" and a headband, looking like Clint Eastwood if Clint Eastwood taught disco aerobics. It was a painful costume to behold, and fortunately he came to his senses rather quickly and went back to his "old" costume.

I'm very fond of the character and I try hard not to remember that costume.

Yeah, that's right, I don't know whether they explained the costume change though.

Feh, The Busiek can explain ANYTHING. Not that I recall that he tried to explain that part.

Oh, snap!

Just saying that anytime a character drops off the radar and comes back, somebody can do stuff with it. Any number of times.

I want to know what happened to Hawkeye during the time he was supposedly "dead" - using Marvel math, that had to be somewhere between 6 and 9 months. In a regular universe, the answer would be: "ummm, while he was dead, he was, you know DEAD" but this is Marvel.

Maybe he went off and wrapped up the highly annoying loose ends left after his wife Mockingbird's death - last we saw her, years ago, she was trapped by Mephisto, doomed to forever fight in Hell in the Arena of... (something, I can't remember what). Now, in the Dead Girl mini and the recent GLA/X mini, she's quietly off playing cards and being part of a bookclub in the afterlife.

WHAT? I wasn't very old when I read those issues (*cough*) and I thought it was unfair that an Avenger got stuck in hell forever.
