However, I don't think it was a compliment. Funny episode, though!

I saw that the other day when someone posted it on another forum. I didn't really find it that funny. More of a WTF really...

It wasn't necessarily Slott's She-Hulk...I think the general idea of the joke is that it doesn't take a genius to come up with She-Hulk when you've already got a Hulk.

It is pretty likely that it is a reference to Slott though. If you just wanted to have a dig at the idea of a female equivelent character then you have Spider-man, Superman and Batman (plus many others) to choose from. Why else would you choose She-Hulk

I can practically guarantee you that the Brothers Chaps not only don't know who Dan Slott is, but they probably can't name anyone who ever worked on a She-Hulk comic ever.

It is a pretty good bet that they are aware of it's existence though, and being aware of it's existence, why would you insult it without having read an issue?
I think they knew what they were doing even without being aware of the creative team.

That is an excellent question--but it happens every single day. Go to almost any forum and you can find people bashing books (or movies, tv shows, etc) they haven't read (some of which aren't even on the stands yet) because they don't like the sound of the concept, or the story, or the creators, or whatever.
I think the "geniuses behind She-Hulk" could only mean the people who created She-Hulk. You don't say "the geniuses behind Family Guy," in reference to the writing team of the recent episodes. And She-Hulk is the best example to use of a C-list female version of an established male character. Supergirl and Batgirl are too well-known, and Spider-Woman isn't well-known enough. Besides, the name "She-Hulk" in itself is very ludicrous sounding.

Actually, I'm kinda hoping it IS a shot at the current SHE-HULK team. 'Cause that would mean we're a big enough institution that we earn getting a knock. :)
(And, when I first saw it, it got a big laugh outta me!)
