Searched for a thread on this, didn't see one. Anyone else pick it up today? (it's a freebie promo for the Civil War event).

Not much info but it does show panels of the New Warriors caught in a large blast.

.... Namorita

Havent we known this for months now?

I was still hoping that some of the more established characters like Speedball and Namorita would survive for the relaunched Warriors team. I think Speedball will make it but the panel looks really bad for Namorita.

Noone else took one? I assumed since it was free and with all the talk everyone would have grabbed it.

It has pretty pictures in it you know.

Well, isn't it kind of obvious that Namorita kicks? I mean, she was right there in Ground Zero, right on top of Nitro.

Namor can take a blast like that, and Namorita is in the same power class (or very close). All depends on if the writers want her dead or not.

Speedball can take that too, his power should just send him shooting off to the next State over I would think.

They wern't with the team when they died, they are in a panel with Firestar at that back of the book. I guess as a reaction momment to the Warriors being wiped out.

I noticed a couple of things in here.

Wolverine attacking Iron Man.

A reporter saying that the "missing New Warrior was found".

Iron Man showing up on, what I assume are, the Capitol steps with two older Iron Man armors accompanying him.

Rage and Justice being escorted by Jennifer Walters(?)

A New Warriors effigy in the paper.

All very interesting stuff.

Probabably will be some. DC is killing off B and C listers left and right, Marvel doesn't want to be left out.

I'm a little worried that the 2 Marvel books I read (She-Hulk and X-Factor) are being included in this. I'm hoping that they don't kill off support characters just to beef up the overall bodycount.

Noone wants a dead Awsome Andy Mr Slott.

Sorry, but when you're actually considering that characters in the books you're reading might die because they tie-in with a big event, you're doing drama. It's abnormal.

I'll disagree with X-Force, because I like the angle they're going to play on for it. But as far as She-Hulk goes, I'd really like to see the book maintain the feel it's had since Slott started. I don't think anyone will die, but I do think we'll deal with the consequences of the New Warriors who weren't at the scene and their future in the superhero world. I think this is where we'll potentially see Firestar hang up the tights.

I have faith in Dan Slott and look forward to the issues.

yeah, who would have thought that anyone would die in Infinite Crisis outside of the main mini series.

How silly of us to entertain such a thought....

Firestar has always been one of my favorite characters and I just want to see her used more often. I think another book about dealing with not being a hero anymore, like Alias, would be a good thing. I'd buy it.

The best books at Marvel right now, outside of Ultimates, are Slotts books (She-Hulk and Thing), Nextwave and X-Factor. And it's because of all the B and C list character use. The New Warriors mini and Runaways have been really entertaining too.

I'm hoping that fan reaction can convince Marvel not to follow after the DC philosophy. The short term boost isn't worth the long term price, if Marvel went the opposite direction and launched even more quirky and odd books featuring nostalgia characters they would find a huge untapped market I bet.

Why are you worrying about it? In a few months or years a writer will find a way to bring back the characters who are killed off

Who's arguing? Look at how many characters have been killed off by one writer and have been brought back by another because it suited their purpose.

Didn't mean to imply we were having an arguement.

Just saying that if you want me to stop asking for the kind of stories I enjoy and the continued use of characters I like? Just because someday in the future a writer will use a technique I consider cheap and somewhat exploitative to the fans to return them (often in badly revamped and altered condition)?

I find the idea unappealing. Thank you, but I think I'll just continue to ask Marvel for what I would like as a consumer and hope enough others want it as well.

But seriously... I do remember She-Hulk's editor saying that the tie-in wouldn't change the usual mood of the book. And at least you can't say that the subjet matter doesn't fit, so it won't be a useless story, forgetful story. Same could be said about x-factor(and the guy who got it mixed up with x-force oughtta have his head examined! :-x )

Eh. With the whole show Quesada's been putting on for a while now, the sole survivor HAS to be Speedball.

IF it is a "sole" survivor, anyway. Could be a misderection.

Thudpucker

I think the survivor is Speedball too. not just because he's the most popular there but because with his power it makes sense he would survive and not be at the scene anymore. The blast could literally have shot him off miles away and left him completely unhurt.

Not sure if I like that idea of him not being hurt I think it would more interesting if somehow he developed amnesia either through injuries or psychological trauma and try to work his way through it

Still gonna be sad with Night Thrasher and Namorita gone, though. But they aren't necessary to a "New Warriors" team as Speedball is. He's like the Martian Manhunter of the NW.

It'd be nice if this led to a revival with Speedball (or whatever his name is), Justice, Firestar, Nova, Rage, Turbo, and let's get Timeslip back.

I'd actually like a Warriors team filled with disparate characters, like the League of Losers (and how the original New Warriors banded together). Darkhawk, Arana (every team needs an annoying character), Gravity, etc.

I'm really vague on Namorita history but I believe in the Byrne Namor run it turned out Namorita is a clone of Namor, one of several. I don't remember what happened to the other clones but it does leave an opening for a new Namorita.

Make believe Marvelverse clone, not real world clone I guess.

I remember Namor and Namorita swimming into a cave and finding 9 or so naked floating Namorita's in vats and some old hag telling them that she was a clone of Namor, one of many.

But it's been so long my memory is fuzzy about it all. I'm going to google up some gistory on her.

ok, just looked it up. I was remembering wrong, she's a clone of her mother Namora and not Namor.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namorita

But the important thing is that she is a clone, maybe they can make another at some point. Or write in that there was another 'sister' clone survived.
