it's pretty bad. My dad had to shit into a diaper for 2 months while he recovered from it.

Oops. Looks like you're right. 40,000 for breast cancer vs. 30,200 prostate. But it looks like genital cancer has them both beat with over 57,000.

There's a theory that if all men were to live long enough they would all get prostate cancer.

Now for some fun prostate cancer facts! Courtesy of Dr. Tunnell and my BioMed class:

Causes 29,900 deaths in US (second among cancers for men).
Third most common Cancer found in Men worldwide.
Can remain latent for up to 20 years.
A biospy of your prostate will run you 1500 dollars.
If you have to have a prostatectomy - serious side effects:
2-30% chance of incontinence
30-90% chance of impotence
Infertility
However, early detection does you good - localized, with surgery
10 year survival rate Grade I cancer - 94%
10 year survival rate Grade II cancer - 87%
10 year survival rate Grade III cancer - 67%
Lastly, most men with prostate cancer die of other causes.

This post has got to be bottom of the bucket in terms of procrastinating for me...
