This is my favorite issue of all of Transmet. It's a beautiful moment mid-series where Ellis stops for a moment and reminds us all of just how fucked up the world of Transmet is. It's a stunning trick to pull you out of a series, make you look at the world, then drop you back in again.

It has been brought to my attention that one chapter of my 1997-2002 serial TRANSMETROPOLITAN has been placed online. Since it’s one chapter out of sixty, and no-one’s trying to earn money off it, and I am lazy benign, I choose not to release the throatfucking hounds of hell upon the criminal Internets pirate responsible.

Instead, I offer it to you to read, and tell you that the story can be found in the collection TRANSMETROPOLITAN: LUST FOR LIFE, available from Amazon and all better comics stores and bookstores.

TRANSMETROPOLITAN #8, “Another Cold Morning”, by Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson with Rodney Ramos, and Clem Robins & Nathan Eyring. (http://community.livejournal.com/fullscans_daily/11529.html)

(And, yes, in doing this I’m well aware that I may blast the poor guy’s image hosting to bits. Ah, well.)

I think that's arguably the best issue in quality. Though my favorite is probably "Mitchell Royce: Two Fisted Editor" (assuming I remember the character's name correctly).

Speaking of the "throat fucking hounds of hell", when attending a sporting event at a hostile arena, do not attempt to simulate an entire crowd of fans with your one voice. It was a noble effort last night, but I am paying for it today...paying for the cheering with my poor hound fucked throat, and paying for all the booze with my poor much abused liver...yup that's what hurts.

That's my favorite issue of the series as well.
