The last issue in Adi's run comes out this week, and I for one can't wait to see how it finishes up. I've really enjoyed the book and wish you were on longer then 6 issues though. :)

Yeah, this one took a long time between me finishing it and it coming out. I am quite excited to see it myself.

I'm really going to miss seeing your Iron Man work, Adi.
I'm hoping they'd do an oversized hardcover of this arc, too.

I would love to see that, but I doubt they would do one for just a six issue story. They will probably just release it as one of their premiere HC.

That's great! Can't wait to read it! I was in Green Brain comics last Saturday and they actually did not have a set date as to when # 6 was coming out.
Adi -- though I was a comic fanatic in my youth, I stopped reading them for years until by chance I saw your art on Iron Man # 2 and read the issue, which just blew me away. Yours and Warren's work has been so brilliant on this arc that it has had -- I'm guesing -- the unintended consequence of making all the current Iron man efforts out there look pretty weak by comparison. I mean no disrespect here, but have you followed the Living Laser/Ghost arc? It's just juvenille by comparison.
Here's hoping Marvel smells the coffee and offers you both another option to do another arc! Also, I hope whoever does the inside book art for the Iron Man covers you're doing does justice to your vision. As I posted on Gabriele's thread, I picked the "Annihilation" prologue -- really beacuse of Gabriele's amazing cover art -- but felt like throwing up when I saw the actual art inside the book -- it was just plain sloppy!
I remember your wife commented awhile back on how she thought there was something a tad dishonest about having a great cover by one artist, but then a different artist doing the inside book -- and I agree completely. It's like false advertising really when you think about it!

Great issue!! Basically one huge throwdown between Iron Man and Mallen, with lots of action and stuff featuring the new suit. A damn fine end to an excellent arc.

I concur. This was great, through and through.

I loved it. Such a great looking book.
It was just beautiful. Adi, I must say you make Mallen's teeth look exceptionally gross in closeups. The Extremis stuff doesn't get rid of plaque, I guess :).
I loved the fight through the building. When this comes out in an oversized HC (and it better!) I'm going to have to buy it. Then probably keep it on display underneath my art page, a little Adi shrine.
Errk!

I don't believe I've ever posted here, but I had to in order to thank and congratulate Adi on his part in the best Iron Man story I've ever read.
The art was so good - disappointing to have to wait solong between issues but well worth it, especially considering Adi was doing EVERYTHING. This story made me care about Iron Man - before this, I hadn't read an Iron Man story since Tony Stark "died". Blech.
This was a great reboot. I would have loved to have seen it go further but I'm just glad to have gotten these 6 issues. The art was just perfect for Ellis's creepy writing.
I just can't say enough great things about this. One of my favorite comic stories ever. I'll definitely be picking up the collected edition as well.
now when is the trade coming out?

what?
The way you phrased your question. You could have just asked if anyone knew when the trade was coming out.

A really supurb comic. Your work actually got me back into marvel's comics.
One quick question regarding the scene....
<<<SPOILER>>>
...where Mallen gets blasted with Ironman's chest laser. It appears to go right through him and shortly after gets his head ripped off/crushed.. way cool. What happened to the hole that was blasted through him did I miss something?
They can bring Mallen back from that just not so soon.

Haha, that is entirely my mistake. Oops. I actually didn't notice that at all until this week when my wife pointed it out in the actual printed comic. Boy was I red in the face. It honestly never even crossed my mind...

Adi -- that's what I mean about doing a re-write/revision of this arc if Marvel's going to produce it as a graphic novel. I mean, everybody makes mistakes, but why wasn't something so obvious as that caught by your editors or someone else? Isn't there like some kind of proof read chain of command?
Also, I, for one, would really like to hear from Warren regarding the concluding issue #6. Have you heard how other folks -- both creators and fans -- have reacted to the issue and Warren's writing of the last few pages -- especially that ending, again, where Iron Man self righteously proclaims, "I can look at myself in the mirror in the morning," which I think you are being too geneorus when you say might be "cheesy."
Adi -- Warren's a fucking true talent, but he had to know that ending was garbage -- so why did he do it? And I've seen him post on Jinxworld before -- so let's hear from him. I mean, do you think I'm off base? I mean am I the only one who thought this way about the conclusion?

Well, there are more mistakes than that one all over the place that it would take weeks to go back and edit them all. It's just a matter of fact in any media. Like how you can see Bishop's legs in a scene at the end of Aliens where he's cut in half and he doesn't have any legs, or the glass screen between Harrison Ford and the cobra in Indiana Jones... I mean some things slip by even in these huge budget movie masterpieces where there are hundreds of people there to catch it.
And so far I have only heard positive things about the issue. Maybe I haven't looked around hard enough but honestly everyone else who's read it seems to have liked it.
Like I said, I really can't speak for Warren. His email address is public so it's easy to send him a question if you want.

Adi -- I will try to e-mail him, but if doesn't respond can you tell him some smart ass pretentious long haired Birmingam Studies wannabe from Detroit wants him as a writer to own up to his words and defend their inexplicabe disintegration into sterile bromide. You tell him that we don't put up with kind of shit in Detroit becuase this goddamn city can't tolerate insincerity when it has been teased into the promise of true artistic realization. And you tell him that's why this goddamn city produces the great genius goddamn music that it does because where that music has proven to be defining and transcendent is exactly in its idiom and integrity. And you tell him Detroit makes Transmetropolitan look soft and if he ever brings his angliophile ass to my neighborhood then he damn will be better to draw pens and fire words with so many poets who would never even muster a hint of cop out in their craft, ahem, HO HA HE HA!
And to you, Messr. Granov! The more your rep deservedly grows the more I'd expect people not to be critical. Touche! Or Tushy (as my people say)!
