View Full Version : Give Dan Thing advice

It seems that everyone has an opinion/advice for Dan as to who should appear in The Thing (myself included) so I thought we could make it kind of official. I have made this list from posts I have seen around the place where people say what they want to see, and left out those who have already appeared.
Pick a character and list a quick reason why.

I'd love to see She-Hulk guest star. They both are fun characters and are tough, plus they have history as members of the Fantastic Four.

Squirrel Girl! She's another character I never thought I would like, but she's awesome! Even more so after the GLX Special.
Why - Sharon Ventura of course. And Lyja. :D

I forgot Sharon *hangs head in shame*
I voted for Aunt Petunia, mostly because we haven't seen her for ages.
I voted for the GLX option.
The more GLX stories we can get Dan to write, the better.

She-Hulk, because a little cross-promotion could only benefit both books.

We need all of them! As the book will run for 100 issues, we should fit them all in. *offers soul to Mephisto*

Definitly Sandman. I know Dan could think up some great things with him.
When did Aunt Petunia previously appear? Just based on Ben's anecdotes, I'm picturing a 7-foot she-beast that drinks scotch straight from the bottle and picks fights with truckers.

She appeared in Byrnes run on the FF. She was a petite little woman not much older than Ben, which was a little surprising. It turns out that Ben's uncle Jake married much younger, I think she was one of his medical students even.
I loved how she came out of left field. Even Reed commented that he had begun to think of her as a figment of Ben's imagination :)

The more She-Hulk appears in a month, the happier I am. I've always loved the relationship between these two, their styles and sense of humour go very well together (the few panels he appeared in, in She-Hulk #6 were priceless), and as already said, a little cross promotion!

Sandman.
Thing and him had a good friendship. Since Sandman has gone back to being a villian he's done nothing of use and his character has become a complete waste... I'd like to see Thing and Sandman have to team up, not to make him a good guy again but try to explain why he's bad again (In not the bullcrap version we have) and show his human side again.

Yeah, I have alwas been pretty conflicted over Sandman. On the one hand I have always thought that good villains are hard to come by and should be kept as villains. On the other hand though I loved that issue of two-in-one where they both sat down and had a beer. And as you say, not a lot of consequence has been done with him since then.

Isn't Thundra dead? I thought Arkon's world was destroyed in JLA/Avengers. I wouldn't care if that was an 'alternate' Thundra, though.
I'd love to see all of the characters on the list appear, actually.

Did she go around yelling "It's Clobberin' Time!" at bizarre intervals? Did she write her thesis paper on clobberin' cancer into submission?

Paul Jenkins!
Damn right!!!
Actually, I would love to see the Constrictor show up more. Maybe have him team-up with the Thing. Also, I would love to see Sandman, Sharon Ventura, she-Hulk (He did a guest-spot in her's, she can return the favor), Squirrel Girl, Tippy Toe, and the GLX, a new Grasshopper (just to kill him off), and Leather Boy. the Watcher, and more.

Since Dan has proven with She-Hulk that he's so good with writing female characters loosely based on existing male characters...
I think it's time for a new female counterpart in the Marvel U... A jive-talkin, neck-waving, no-nonsense MISS THING

Sharon Ventura was a female Thing for a while between FF 311 and 350 (off the top of my head) but I am afraid she was not jive-talking or neck-waving. She may qualify for no-nonsense though. ;)

And was she called MISS THING?

No, officially she was called Ms Marvel but she was sometimes reffered to as She-Thing.

I really miss Sharon. My favorite FF era was the Thing, Torch, Ms. Marvel, Sharon team. I hate what they did with her later on in the series. Hopefully Dan will have her guest star some time soon and hopefully demonster her.

As tempting as it was to vote for She-Hulk, we already know Jennifer will show up during the poker tournament. I don't think Aunt Petunia has made an appearance since John Bryne first introduced her, and it would be nice to see her again...

BTW, DanielSan, I hate to disappoint you but ANOTHER Spider-lady has joined the Fem Four!
