Sci-Fi is running the new (last year or so?) BBC series. Finally watched the Tivo of the first two episodes tonight and I have to say it was exactly the stupid goofy fun I wanted it to be. I haven't seen much Doctor Who in my day (bad geek, I know), but this was fun and I'll certainly be back for more.

I missed the first episode. :(

Second episode was cool. I too never watched Doctor Who back in the day. Don't know if I'll be interested in the older series but I like this one.

It hits a rough patch early on in that season, but recovered right about the time I thought I wasn't going to watch anymore.

It's a shame that actor isn't playing the doctor anymore. I like his take on the doctor as well as the moral ambiguity of the doctor.

Watch the original, too, if you can. Loads of fun!!!

The only real rough spots for me have been the pilot (which, frankly, I expect to be rough on a show like this) and "The Unquiet Dead". Other than that, I've been loving it. Tonight was "The Empty Child" which did all the things this show does well - funny, creepy, good sci-fi (with the accent of the fi there, since very little sci ever figures into it). I also really liked last week's episdode about Rose's Dad.

I've got a few of the old series discs on my Netflix list. I'm looking forward to them. I might well buy a region free DVD player just to score the new season's discs as soon as they're out in the UK.

I really disliked the farting aliens two parter.

I called Colin on Friday night when I was at work and instead of saying hello just said "Are you my mummy?"

Were you even born "back in the day?"

After watching last night's episode, I now firmly believe that Russell T. Davies is the new Joss Whedon. And I love him far, far more.

Which is last night's? I have them on disc, maybe I'll get around to watching that one.

It was the second half of "Are you my mummy" gasmask freaky dudes/Captain Jack about to get blowed up real good. The actual name, I believe, is "The Doctor Dances."

Yep, it was absolutely stellar. They really settled into the pace of the show, the logic of the world and all of the characters. It's now doubly a shame that I only get another episode or so with this Doctor.

But...but...David Tennant!

I don't know. I'm pretty gay for Christopher Eccleston.

Not having seen the newest Doctor, I'll withhold judgment, but... Yeah, I'm with Brian so far. I've been a Doctor Who fan for a while, and I really like the tone of Eccleston's Doctor.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/episodes/2006/newearth.shtml -- This trailer alone. I was thinking it would be tough to top Christopher Eccleston, and yeah I'm in love with David Tennant, but he appears to bring such joy to the character.
