New show from Shawn Ryan (creator of The Shield) and David Mamet. Finally got around to watching the Tivo last night and damn that was a fun show. Stars Dennis Haysbert as leader of a unit of anti-terrorist badasses. Includes excellent Mamet dialog and Shield-style soap opera. The first episode felt like a group of great talent feeling out an idea that was going to grow and get better with time.
Excelent dialog:
"You, you and you - panic. The rest of you, come with me."
"We get to jump out of airplanes, shoot guns and come home to our family at the end of the day. What's not to like?"
And my favorite: "If you stop to think about it, the entire universe has conspired to bring you to this time and place. Now make the most of it."

meh. It was okay. I thought the dialogue was a bit uneven. A few good lines. Haysbert's wife was a bitch. In fact, I didn't much care for any of the wives. I'll probably watch next week to see if it gets better.

Yeah, the wives were the weak bit. But they were also the bit that I thought was an interesting idea that just hadn't been sorted out yet.

Considering who was involved with this, it should have been much better. Instead it felt like 10 other similar shows. :dunno:

I really enjoyed this. I thought it was a solid beginning that has plenty of room to grow. Thought the ending was really good to, you can see that something big is coming down the road for Jonas, and I was surprised by the other part of the ending, though I should've seen that coming.
With it getting strong ratings (18.5 Million), I think this is a show that will be around for a good long while. Glad to see Mamet and Shawn Ryan getting this show out to so many people. I imagine with Ryan wrapping up The Shield, he's eager to get another good series out there. This looks to be one.
Do we know how many episodes the show will get this year?

I just read 12, which sounds about right. They'll probably play it non-stop the rest of the season, and then give them a full season order for the Fall.
I'm just surprised that CBS didn't start the show in the Fall.

I might have to add this. I think I saw the Season Premiere (how many episodes have they shown?) and had to watch when I saw Mamet's name. You know I've yet to watch The Shield.
I may have to add this to the old TiVo, what day does it come on?

The Shield gets a couple airings. Watch the west coast feed (the later showing) and catch this when it airs on CBS. Or buy a Tivo. Life is better with Tivo.

She (Gina Torres) was great on an episode of The Shield about two weeks back.

Gina Torres and the Shield...two great things...must go good together...like beer and pizza, or gin and tonic, or whiskey and more whiskey.

If you can give up heroin for just one week, you can afford a Tivo.
