'BATTLESTAR GALACTICA' RETURNS THIS FALL

Season 3 Set to Premiere on SCI FI in October

NEW YORK -- March 8, 2006 -- As SCI FI's hit original series 'Battlestar Galactica' gears up for its biggest episode ever -- this Friday's 90-minute season 2 finale -- the Channel begins preparations for the October 2006 premiere of the show's eagerly anticipated third season. Production on season 3 begins in Vancouver in April.

Returning to its Friday night slot with a complete 20-episode order, season 3 of 'Battlestar Galactica' promises even more of the drama, intrigue and action that viewers have come to expect from the series. One of television's most critically-acclaimed dramas, 'Battlestar Galactica' has captured the minds of a new generation of fans, distinguishing itself with the intensity and present day relevance of its stories and the command performances of its ensemble cast.

The entire 'Battlestar Galactica' ensemble will return, including Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park. As previously announced, Lucy Lawless will also join the cast for a 10-episode arc, reprising her role as D'Anna Biers, a Cylon.

Executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, 'Battlestar Galactica' is from NBC Universal Television Studio.

SCI FI's ever-popular 'Stargate' series, 'SG-1' and 'Atlantis,' will return with their new seasons in July 2006.

SCI FI Channel is a television network where "what if" is what's on. SCI FI fuels the imagination of viewers with original series and events, blockbuster movies and classic science fiction and fantasy programming, as well as a dynamic Web site (www.scifi.com) and magazine. Launched in 1992, and currently in 85 million homes, SCI FI Channel is a network of NBC Universal, one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies.

This wait will kill me. Grrr.

Goddamn this is a great show.

Still less time then waiting for the Sopranos or The Shield, the two other best show on TV.)

Good. I just finished watching Season One this afternoon, and this gives me plenty of time to get through Season Two before the next season.

It's going to be a long wait, but I'm hoping it will be worth it.

It'll give the DVD folks time to catch up and jump on board.

Delayed? When was it first supposed to come out?

July like the rest of the Sci-Friday lineup. It's no big deal, because it means that the winter break will be shorter, maybe only a month or so, instead of the 3 1/2 month winter break the show went through this season.

Hopefully it will mean no long break in the middle of season 3 though, which would be worth it.

Good, that gives me a chance to catch up on it.

i may have to buy all the old seasons on DVD now so that i have some BSG to watch in the down time.

i will definately buy the comic mini series now. it is set before the pegasus arrived on the show and has recieved full approval from moore and universal tv.

Well, that's true. It's only an extra 3 months.

But agreed...this is a fantastic show.

Yeah, I'm definitely buying the comic series, and I guess I can rewatch everything thus far. :)

What I'm hoping this means is that they will extend the ordered number of shows to 22-24, and run the whole thing without a break, kinda like 24 this season. But I like not having a huge break between seasons.

Motherfucker that sucks. I like having it on with only a few months between breaks.

Wouldn't it be spectacular if SciFi filled the gap with the 2nd season of Dr Who? :)

It really pisses me off that they sold season 2 split up, 50.00 a piece. The days of 100.00 per season should be long over

I wasn't crazy about the way Universal handled the DVD pricing, but then again, I got Season 2.0 as a Christmas gift, so I'm only really going to be out about $40 bucks or so for the whole season.

But hell, it's a show I love so much I'd pay the full $80+ to get the season, just like people who really love the Sopranos or Deadwood pay that much for those DVDs.

I'm not really surprised about this. I thought maybe late August/September at the earliest.

If anything this will give them more time to work on pre-production for S3 episodes and also CGI work.

I bet the delay is to retool the next season now that people have figured out that Starbuck is a cylon.

I KEED!

maybe this means they will show a full season in October rather than breaking it up into two parts?

And I'll add my vote for BG as the best show on television...

Hey, at least it's better than a "Sopranos" style break.

the delay is going to suck...but will allow us to rewatch seasons 1 and 2, and get more excited for the show when it comes on...and if they replay it, they can gain new viewers anxious for season 3

Strangely, I'm fine with this. I wont' be in the country for the next three Fridays, so I don't miss any. And with school starting in August, I'll have time to get a routine down before it starts again.
