Sony announced it will ship blank Blu-ray disks in Europe beginning this month, but added that dual-layer versions wonít be shipping until later this year. Thatís okay, though, these single layer BD-R (recordable) disks hold a whopping 25GB of data. Itís just that $30 price thatís hard to swallow. BR-RE (rewritable) disks will be along in April for $36.

Could it be that a couple of years from now youíll be able to buy a stack of 100 of these for $20? Does history repeat itself? Maybe not.

I hope so, but Sony's track record with proprietary media isn't the best
