I'm pleased it won too, more for the surprise value than anything else. Plus, it was also a very good film. Heavy handed it its message at times, but still very good.

I definitely found it a little overcooked in places. Fact is, even real, out-and-out, total racists don't feel the need to hammer home the hatred every three sentences. A little more subtilty would have done it the world of good.

But, really, that's just splitting hairs in what is still a worthy winner.

Every single character was a walking cliche out of an 80's cop TV series.

Worst movie I saw this year.

Paul Haggis = shit script.

That Matt Dillon was the supporting actor nominee from this 'ensemble' cast tells you right there that Crash wasn't very good.

Constant Gardener should have taken its place as a nominee and Good Night and Good Luck should have won.

Eh. This was such a weak year for movies, I don't really care who won. I'm glad you're happy with the winner. For me, my big victory came when Paradise Now lost best foreign film.

I went to sleep once "Wallace and Grommet" won. That was the only one I cared about.

Beautiful, but hollow. W&G had more heart in it than anything else produced last year combined.

It's much better the second time around. I liked it the first time I watched it, but I really liked it the second time.

I'm glad Memiors of a Geisha won most of the art and filming awards. Because frankly, the movie wasn't as good as the book, but it looked amazing.

YES! Speaking of Cronenberg - where the fuck was History of Violence? It made the top of like 50 lists. I know, I know, I should have learned by now that Cronenberg, like Scorcese, is too good for Oscar.

It made people uncomfortable. A critic over here summed it up perfectly...

... we'd rather watch movies in which beautiful people kill each other, than watch a movie that tries to examine what it is we find so appealing about watching beautiful people kill each other.

This was the only movie up for Best Picture that I've gotten to watch so far. I thought it was average...which, ironically, is average for Oscar.

It's a good film, but very overrated and not that powerful.

It wants to be Magnolia and Short Cuts, but about race, and it just doesn't work.

It smacks you in the face with it's "message" and just seems like something a high schooler would've come up with.

Hardly the best original screenplay (big surprise Squid and the Whale got screwed.) and definatly not the best film of the year.
