isn't for free?

I feel like Shalgaar for saying this but, why would you pay for a podcast?

It had been for free. The first twelve episodes were free.

Now they've switched to a pay-format.

Hey, if you had one of the most popular podcasts out there, wouldn't you charge? (As an aside, I don't know that I'm willing to pay, but there ya go.)

first 12 were for free, next package is $6.95 for (at least) 4.

Its worth it because its freakin hysterical. Its better than any TV show, so, yes, i think its worth a little more than a buck for a half hour.

Then again, theres bit torrent...

The first series of 12 they did for The Guardian was free. That ended, and now they're charging. They claim they're only charging because they have to fund it themselves, but I don't know..

I feel like Shalgaar for saying this but, why would you pay for a podcast? You hear about the latest craze of scrap booking classes? People pay someone to learn how to cut and paste pictures into a colourful book.

People are morons. At least a Ricky Gervais has something you couldn't otherwise figure out on your own, if you weren't too busy adhering to a routine check by the wallet inspector.

Don't even fucking start me on potpourri.
People are morons! ESPECIALLY stay at home mothers who watch Oprah and/or Dr. Phil religiously.

It's no different than paying pay-per-view to watch a movie or something like that.

As for me, I enjoyed 'em, but there's no way in hell that I'm paying for 'em.

that's actually more expensive that paying for Howard's show

Yeah, I'm absolutely not paying for it.

I was debating, but decided I love it too much to go without. I'm sure I could find it on torrents somewhere, but I'll support Karl.

isn't in an proprietary format now? the whole audible thing places some kind of wrapper around the file to be able to keep statistics at the very least.

if people enjoy it enough to pay for it more power to em.

I get This American Life from Audible, and I'm pretty sure it's just an MP3.

Nope. I mean, you can listen to it for free from their site (streaming), but you have to pay for the Audible version.

Are they using solid gold microphones or something? :-?

I believe the bandwidth has got to be pricey with the huge number of downloads they experienced.

$1.74/each. Consider $0.99/song and it's not a bad deal. And I find myself listening to these multiple times.

What a great picture. I still have to get around to making a Karl T-shirt so I can spread the word of Karl to others.
