Does anyone remember that guy who tried to make the suit that would enable him to walk into a cave full of bears? He was my hero during the 90's

Is it wrong that this is funny (with the obvious exception of the very NOT FUNNY part)? I just think his behavior, and a lot of the interviews, are really funny.
Bill?

do they show it when he gets eaten?

Reminds me of Frank Miller's 1st Wolverine mini series...hunting that grizzly bear. after hearing the story by Tim's friend.

The coroner is one of my favorite parts. If you saw this movie in a theater, was there his head shot taped under every seat?

You know, I was watching this, did anyone hear his little spiel about gay people? I was disgusted. He's a real asshole and real eccentric too.
Talking about how they basically have no feelings or emotional attachment to relationships, and they just meet in truck stops for sex and that's all there is to it, how its so much easier to be gay than straight. This guy is a fucking jackass.

I always thought he was gay. Just the impression I got. Closeted, obviously, which is why I thought he was being such a dick, because he hates himself. He was talking about how much easier it would be to be gay, while stressing that he's just a "crazy straight guy" or whatever he said. Definitely seemed like he was trying too hard.
EDIT: I really hope that doesn't come across as critical of homosexuality. I am not suggesting his problem was that he was gay, I'm suggesting his problem was that he couldn't accept that he was.

GRIZZLY MAN was pretty great. It's an embarrassment that it didn't even make the first cut for documentaries for Oscar nominations.
I wish it was showing on the Discovery HD channel. I might watch it again.

I just watched this the other day on dvd and loved it. I heard they have extra footage of Werner Herzog talking about the movie added on the Discovery channel. I'm not really sure how it's supposed to work or if the extras are on the dvd or not. I'm going to check it out anyway, because I felt that it was good enough to watch again.

HOLY SHIT! Shameless self promotion moment here! Okay, so back in December a guy that posts on my blog named Sarge wrote the funniest shit ever about Grizzly Man. If you guys want a good laugh feel free to go to:
http://politicsonastick.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_politicsonastick_archive.html
Just scroll down about 1/3 way down to read the post titled Sarge's DVD Review: Grizzly Man! The pics he made of Yogi and Boo Boo are worth the trip alone. Seriously, I'd never heard of this dude until I read the post and now to see this topic I had to chime in.

Not sure about the accuracy of this, but I heard it wasn't allowed to be considered because it was disqualified for being broadcast on TV (BBC).
I also thought that Herzog deliberately didn't include the audio of his and his girlfriend's death in the film. Was I wrong about that?

No you not wrong about it being excluded...no audio just a brief description.

he was a little out there bu i think the documentary showed the world that if anything he was a human trying to deal with the problems in his life by helping the bears. I think they really showed or discussed the fact that his alcoholism led him to the bears and wanting to protect them. I also think that he really was a brave guy.
Maybe he wasn't all there but whop really is in this world ?
He survived with the bears for 13 summers and could have proabably made it longer had he not chosen to go back to the reserve in october that 13th year (which was discussed in the after bit at the end)
Maybe he was a cook but he became someone with a purpose out in the wild with the bears and the foxes. He documented them in film and in video and it wwas a really amazing movie.
Honestly i cannot agree with his life choices or everything he did or said but those summers helped a struggling man to live again for 13 years so its gotta mean somthing to some people.

Fantastic documentary, the Academy should be ashamed for not nominating it.
And "Timmy" was a friggin' nutcase.
