The new issue of Amazing Fantasy? For some reason my local keeps putting it in with the comics from my pull list (I think one of the guys does it to wind me up) but usually I spot it and put it back on the shelf. Today though I was just so tired I didn't spot it and ended up buying it with the rest. I had a light comic week so I read it and must admit it wasn't terrible. Not the greatest or most original story ever mind you but it could've been much worse. I may pick up the rest if I'm not strapped for cash.

I picked it up and gave it a look through. I want to be able to support new things, but it just didn't excite me.

I enjoyed it. It's refreshing to see Marvel creating new characters (even if they're not completely unique).
Not to make this a padding debate, but I think a book like AMAZING FANTASY, where you're going to introduce a new character with each story arc, would be better suited for four-issue arcs.

I could see how it wouldn't. I wasn't even going to get it but if it picks up a small bit I'll be glad I did.

It really is refreshing to see new characters coming out of Marvel. I missed that for a long time.
I agree with the 4 issue arc thing too. Although saying that I never really liked the 6 issue arc long stories for nearly every story they do. It can really kill a story sometimes.

And at least with the first issue, I don't feel like this story is being padded. There seemed to be enough happening in that issue that made it worth reading on its own. If the keep up with that pacing throughout the next five issues, I'll quit my bitching.

I read the on-line preview of the first issue and it was so horribly horrrible that I have since avoided it like it was radioactive.
Did it get better?

It seemed to. I'd say flick through it in the store at least.

I wrote a bit about it in the bought/thought thread. I didn't hate it, but it seemed like a rehash of ever other mutant origin story ever.
