C'est moi. BUT...if you read the scene carefully, you'll notice that I get my ass kicked by Daredevil not once but twice. :)

And hey! At least I didn't make the WHOLE FIRST STORY ARC about ME the way Alex did.

Yeah, I figured we were lucky you didn't draw yourself in as Foggy or something. :)

What about he drew Bendis in the diner (Daredevil What If?, page 1)? He was sitting right next to Bendis.

Hey, if you can draw yourself into your work, why not?

What about he drew Bendis in the diner (Daredevil What If?, page 1)? He was sitting right next to Bendis.

Well, that was a special circumstance. See, here's the deal. Here's that page of script:

Page 1-
1-- Int. Diner- day
Big panel. Tight on the classic Daily Globe headline. The loud eye-catcher. The one from DD issue 32.A candid smiling picture of Matt Murdock next to a blurry yet recognizable angry picture of Daredevil
reads: GLOBE EXCLUSIVE
Daredevil'S SECRET IDENTITY REVEALED
PULP HERO OF HELL'S KITCHEN IS BLIND LAWYER

2- Int. Diner- Same but pulling wider.
Sitting at the counter, in profile, is a handsome but average bald guy in a black leather jacket. He sits forward into our foreground and sips his hot chocolate. He looks like just any guy... but we will reveal that this is the Watcher. No bobble head cosmic silly for us. The Watcher in the guise of a regular human man.He is sitting next to another guy, just some guy with a beard, reading a Daily Globe.

The Watcher
Tsk. Poor Matt Murdock.

3- Same but wider. Wide of the diner. Very typical, classic style diner. A smattering of people at the counter and in booths. Nothing but a normal day. A heavy set, grease stained cook wiping his counter.

THE Watcher
All the crap he's had to deal with... and now this.

4- Two shot. In the foreground, The Watcher and the other guy sit at the counter. The Watcher gently sips his tea and smirks to himself. The other guy, with the paper, doesn't even seem to hear him.
In the background, behind them, at a booth, is Jessica Jones. Just a visual tie in to the Avengers What If- you and Gaydos should work together on this diner and this Page.A pregnant Jessica wincing in discomfort as she goes back to ponder her menu.

THE Watcher
Thing is- and don't tell anyone I told you this, but I know from a pretty good source... that its true.

Its not rumor or gossip.

Believe you me- Matt Murdock is Daredevil.

So, I email Michael Gaydos. And we both agree that it sounds like Bendis is describing himself as the Watcher. And we both have the same idea - let's pull a fast one on Bendis, and we'll draw him as the Watcher, and we'll be sitting on either side of him and he'll be telling the stories to us. So if you look later in the issue, and in the Avengers What If, you'll see that Michael Gaydos is sitting on the other side of Bendis.

Bendis wasn't too thrilled when he saw what we had done, becuase he's not an attention whore at all and he was afraid people would think it was his idea. But here's the proof - it wasn't!

I still think it was kinda funny, though.
