January 24, 2006

ET has confirmed that actor CHRIS PENN, who is the younger brother of SEAN PENN and star of movies like 'Reservoir Dogs' and 'Starsky & Hutch' has died. Investigators were on the scene Tuesday, where Penn was found dead in Santa Monica, CA. He was 43. Penn played the role of Nice Guy Eddie in QUENTIN TARANTINO's 1992 cult hit 'Reservoir Dogs'; he also appeared in the movie 'Rush Hour' and on episodes of the television shows "Entourage" and "Everwood." Penn is survived by his mother, EILEEN RYAN, and brothers Sean and MICHAEL.

Must be too early to report yet, I haven't found any more info about it.

That's really sad. 43, not much older than I am.

Is it just me or are celebrities dropping all over the place? My girlfriend thinks I'm the Grim Reaper because I'm always telling her someone died.

The man you just killed just got released from prison. He got caught at a company warehouse full of hot items. He could have fucking walked. All he had to do was say my dad's name, but he didn't; he kept his fucking mouth shut. And he did his fucking time, and he did it like a man. He did four years for us. So, Mr. Orange, you're telling me this very good friend of mine, who did four years for my father, who, in four years, never made a deal, no matter what they dangled in front of him, you're telling me that now that this man is free and we're making good on our commitment to him, he's just going to decide, out of the fucking blue, to rip us off? Why don't you tell me what really happened?

This really does fucking suck. I first saw him in Footloose and of course loved him in Reservoir Dogs and many other great movies. That monologue at the end of Dogs was his shining moment. Although he had gotten big over the years I never really thought he would leave so soon. It's weird, I just thought about him the other day for a weird reason, thinking of actors getting bigger over time after I watched an episode of My Name is Earl with Jon Favreu. Fuck did that guy pack on like 200 lbs lately. Anyway, RIP Chris AKA Nice Guy Eddie. Not quite as recognized as his brother Sean, but ten times more talented than Michael (Romeo in Blue Jeans).

The two things that occur to me immediately are:

1. Hopefully this will be a wake-up call to his True Romannce partner Tom Sizemore

2. It's going to be wierd to kill his character next time I play GTA: San Andreas.

I bet it was his weight through. I saw him once and his face looked like it was going to exlpode. Poor guy. He fucking rocked.

Yeah, he was really putting on more weight in recent years, plus he was known as a hard partier. Too bad, I'm sure this is tough for his whole family. Loved him and Sizemore in True Romance.

And where's the love for The Wild Life?? Does anyone here even remember this movie? Classic 80's teen partying flick, that was supposed to serve as kind of a Jeff Spicoli/Fast Times breakout vehicle for Chris. Though somehow his character's often repeated catch phrase "it's casual" never really took off the way the producers had hoped it would.

Y'know when I heard the news tonight I was trying to remember the last thing I had saw him in. I knew it was something recent I'd just seen, but I couldn't remember what it was, but that was it, Entourage. thanks (though he was looking particularly big in that episode)

Best Penn ever! Seriously. His album was my top album of 2005.
