Looks incredible! I can't wait for this.
Oh, and Moon Knight seems to think his costume is white, Kev.

Looking very forward to this. I have always liked Moon Knight, and I love me some David Finch art.

I'll second that! Dave is definitely one of my top five favorite artists right now. Keep up the great work Mr. Finch!

Very excited about this book-- I hope it is done well!
Dave's art is perfect for the character-- gritty and in-your-face art goodness! :)

There are others floating around here who could probably give you a more detailed account, but the short version is this:
Marc Spector was a Marine who became a mercenary, and he basically did a lot of unpleasant things. On one mission, while working for a sadistic madman called the Bushman in Africa, he developed a conscience and turned against Bushman. Bushman beat him to death (or nearly to death, depending on your view of things), and left him in the Egyptian desert. Some priests of the ancient Egyptian god of vengeance/justice, Khonshu, took Spector's body into their temple and laid it at the feet of a statue of the god. Spector survived (or was revived) and now believes that Khonshu brought him back to be his instrument on Earth.
Is he really infused with the power of an Egyptian god or is he just delusional? That's kind of up to the reader. Marc also has MPD (multiple personality disorder) brought on by the stress of having to live with some of the horrible things he did in his former life as a mercenary. He believes that he can atone for his sins by being the Moon Knight.

Thank's for the explanation Rws Smith! :D

Great explanation! A couple of questions:
1. Does he actually have any powers, or is he simply highly trained (like Batman)?
2. Is he supposed to be super-wealthy, or does he have some kind of backing? (I know he has a team, and a helicopter from the recent apearance in Ult Spidey)

Keep in mind that I'm no expert on the character, but from what I've gathered it's still up in the air as to whether he has any powers or not. His strength seems to increase depending on the phases of the moon (the fuller the moon, the stronger he gets), but that could just be because of his insanity. He has also survived apparent death more times than he should have, which certainly makes him believe that he's the avatar of an ancient Egyptian god. Again, I think it's left up to the reader as to whether or not he has powers.
He's super-wealthy in his own right. I think he made some really good investments with the blood money he earned as a mercenary, and now runs his own company called "SpectorCorp." Not really sure what they do, but I think it's a lot of government contracts. Think Haliburton.
There's a guy who sometimes posts here named, Kev, who could probably give you more detailed answers.

1. Does he actually have any powers, or is he simply highly trained (like Batman)? (highly trained disipile of khonshu egyptian god of wrath or something)
2. Is he supposed to be super-wealthy, or does he have some kind of backing? ( hired guns tend to be rather wealthy. (I know he has a team, and a helicopter from the recent apearance in Ult Spidey)
He's a mix of both.

Moon Knight does not have any super powers. In the beginning of his career, Moon Knight had gained increased strength, reflective of the phases of the moon, from a bite he received while battling Werewolf by Night. The silver costume protected him from becoming a Lycan himself, but the increased strength was the side effect, which was temporary. His strength levels increased again when he was under the manipulation of the priests of Khonshu in the Fist of Khonshu series. When he was able to free himself of the control they had over him in West Coast Avengers he lost those abilities again. Since then, those effects have never returned.
Marc Spector was a millionaire. In one of his later mercenary missions in Africa he came upon some caves which he discovered were rich in copper ore deposits. Marc invested some of his mercenary money in a mining company, and struck it rich when he pointed them in the right direction. Marc became millionaire many times over, which easily funded his operations as Moon Knight. At the end of the Marvel Knights series it was undetermined how much wealth Marc had remaining after his business was destroyed and in some ways so was he. While healing in a hospital from the damage he had suffered, Marc was attempting to assess the financial damage to SpectorCorp while choosing to hang up the cape for a while as he questioned himself and his motivations.

See, I knew Kev would have more details. I wonder what the status of Marc's company will be in this new series? Obviously he'll need money to fund his activities as Moon Knight. Mooncopters can't be cheeap, after all. ;)
You know what would kind of cool IMO? What if since we last saw Spector, Tony Stark has bought his company and made it a subsidiary of Stark International? That could be kind of cool and would give him a reason to interact with Stark and the New Avengers from time to time. Maybe not join the team per se, but I think it would help to lift his status in the Marvel U if he showed up in the highest selling book from time to time.

Thanks for the 411 guys. It'll make reading the new series that much better to have some BG info.
Cheers.

Before the costume was silver and looked white, but now it's supposed to be white and looks silver. :-? I'm glad we got that all cleared up. That said, I love the coloring. Frank D'Armata is one of the best color artists around. The whole team on this book is top notch. It's nice to see such an incredibly talented team on my favorite character. That 2 page spread, pages 3&4 in issue #1, is absolutely incredible and needs to be a poster.

To me it just looks like Moon Knight hasn't washed it in awhile. Or maybe he has and just can't get all of the dirt and blood stains out.

Well, think about it. How long would a white costume stay white while running around New York City fighting crime?

Doesn't it seem like Frankie D., Danny Miki and Dave Finch do alot of work together, or is it just me( BTW i'm not complaining...it all looks great!)
