I have a gift card for GameStop thanks to my kickass and awesome Secret Santa. Now I need to decide what to use it on!

Any thoughts on these games (and I'm probably fucking the titles up because it's late and I'm sleepy)?

Hulk Ultimate Destruction
Rise of the Imperfects
Ultimate Spider-Man.

I saw somebody post something about a Simpsons game that's in the same spirit as Grand Theft Auto? What's that all about.

Help me out!

My nephew and I played Ultimate Spiderman and enjoyed it a lot.
I haven't played the other two.
The Simpsons game is fun, too, especially the shit the characters say to each other.

Hulk - best hulk game made...really fun ..free reign of the city but as hulk..run through shit(cars, tanks etc), run up walls...

Rise- Stay Away! a pretty awful fighting game....

Ultimate Spider-man - great storyline, great dialogue (bendis!), so so gameplay

The biggest complaint I heard about USM was the chase missions. Are there a lot of them?

I have the original Spider-Man movie game, but never finished it, because I got so fucking sick of chasing the Green Goblin all over the fucking city.

Simpsons Road Rage. It's more Crazy Taxy than GTA although I would pay to see Moe kill hookers and steal their monies.

There are a ton of chase missions. I got stuck on one for a day or two. It was excruciating.

The Simpsons Hit & Run is the 2nd Best Simpsons game ever (which I know isn't saying much since most of the Simpsons games are garbage) The only thing that beats it is Konami's Simpsons Arcade game. If you're a fan of the show you'll love the game.

Avoid Simpsons Road Rage, get Hit & Run

Isn't Road Rage the racing only one? Isn't the GTA-style one called Hit and Run or something? I get them confused...

OK. Rise of the Whatevers is right fucking out.

I'm kicking around Hulk or that Simpsons game.

Any other suggestions?

Generally, my video game purchases are focused on skateboarding games, comic book games, wrestling games, and games where I can kill hookers.

24: The Game is out in a few weeks if you don't need a new game right away. I have the demo from the latest OPM and it was pretty fun.

Winning Eleven 9 International is also out in a few weeks. Best Football (Soccer) series ever

X-Men Legends II (if you don't have it)

The Warriors (again if you don't have it)

Try Neverwinter Nights if you haven't yet. RPG goodness complete with a brothel where you can kill the whores after you bone them. There's a man whore in there too but i tend to avoid him.

Do you have God of War, Travis? It's a kick ass game.

I have a feeling you'll also enjoy a game called "Manhunt".

Hulk or USM. Both excellent choices. The graphics and story in USM really make the whole thing worth it.

The Hulk game is a blast and has alot of replay value. The USM game... I bought that, and I wish I'd rented it. Great graphics and a great plot, but you can finish it in 4 hours. I haven't had the urge to replay it since, either. Not worth full price.

The Simpsons game is a few years old and you can probably pick it up used for next to nothing.

I say get both.

Rise of the Imperfects was a really fun 3D brawler that everyone kept insisting was a fighting game. I enjoyed it as a brawler, as it really captured the feel of some of my favourite Marvel characters. Also, it didn't have any retarded chase missions.

That said, I'd go with Ultimate Spider-Man anyway.

Let's see, shortly before, slightly after X-mas I went fucking video game nuts. In the last two minths I have purchased the following: Ultimate Spider-man, GUN, DragonQuest 8, Resident Evil 4 (PS2), Tiger Woods 2006, and WWE SD! Vs. Raw 2006. Between work, writing, and my two year old son I seriously have no time to play them all right now especially since I am 75 hrs into DQ8. Tiger, WWE, RE 4 I have played not at all. GUN I have played and enjoyed a lot for the little amount I have. As for Ultimate Spidey, well it rocks. I have been stuck as Venom trying to beat fucking Electro forever now though and I'm frustrated as all hell. I love the writing (obviously) and the side missions are fine to me, just that I keep falling off the huge ass building as Venom and losing the fight against Electro. Damn it.

Of what you listed, definately go for Hulk. You get alot more game for your money there. Don't get me wrong, USM was a great game and I loved every minute of it....but there were very few minutes it was such a short game and yeah, if you don't dig chases then it might piss you off.

Some other mentions in here that I endorse are God of War (probably my all time favorite game), X-Men Legends II (I'm in the middle of this one and loving it) and Manhunt. Manhunt is an odd game, but it sounds like something you'd like. You're a serial killer that's busted out of jail to kill people for some reality show or something to that effect. That game kinda kicked my ass though, so I got frustrated and quit. The Hitman games are pretty awesome too.

X-Men Legends 2 owned me. I loved it so fucking much. Ask Jenifu. The week between Chriistmas and New Years, every time she came over, I was sitting in front of the TV playing it.

I tried Hitman a little ways back. Found it indescribably difficult.

Manhunt and God of War sound intriguing.

stevapalooza
01-18-2006, 05:15 AM
And yes, Manhunt is AWESOME. Your job is basically to sneak up on people and kill them (theyre bad people so it's ok). You kill them with weapons or items you pick up (like a plastic bag). Each weapon has 3 different severity levels, so you can kill people 3 different ways with each one (the most extreme kills score you the most points). And it's not insanely hard either.

If you like westerns Red Dead Revolver is also a lot of fun.

I'm with you on Hitman. It's a wonderful game, but I could not be any worse at stealth gaming if I tried.
