I don't think there should be ratings until around the 4th or 5th week as well.

But having said that, I'm pretty happy with OU being ranked 8th. If they can build up and keep a healthy offensive line and make improvements on their secondary then they have all the tools to be a great team.

They have a tough schedule next year. They play at Oregon, have Washington at home, then of course there's October 7th, the Red River Shootout.

I hate when college football season ends.

Most of the Longhorn's chances are going to depend on whether Vince Young decides to go to the NFL or stay for his senior year. If he stays then their chances are good, if not then I believe they'll have to go to a freshman qb and it could take a few games to get him worked into the system.

Agreed that Texas' hopes depend on VY coming back. I'm kind of thinking he will. They put something in the water in Austin.

Depending on OU's line, 8 is either too high or too low. If we can cobble something together on the OL, OU is a contender. If line play is as inconsistent as it was this year, top 25 is about as good as we'll get.

No way does Vince Young come back. He just became one of the top picks in the draft, maybe even moving past Leinart.

Mack Brown has never had a player leave early, including: Ricky Williams Nathan Vasher Derrick Johnson The Fake Roy Williams Chris Simms Cedric Benson Most of those guys were top 5 caliber picks after their junior years (except for Simms, I guess)

Washington is the epitome of everything that can be terrible about a football team. Flat-out awful. I can't believe I thought Ty Willingham was a good coach. Sad for Dad. He's a U-Dub season ticket holder. When we play the return game in Seattle in 2008 I'm SO there.

Texas is a loaded team, and shouldn't be counted out prematurely.

Definitely not counting them out, but their offense could suffer the first few games with a freshman qb. Especially a big game like Ohio State, that's a tough situation for a new qb to be involved in.

Looks like Vince is going pro. He announced it today at 3 PM.

That really hurts the Longhorns chance of repeating as champs.

Looks like next year is going to be wide open.
