Iron Man 5 finaly out this week. It's an interesting issue and I think one that will please a lot of IM fans. This issue has some of the best pages I've done. Actually there is an action sequence that I am very happy with. Usually, once I am done with something, soon after I can only see things I'd want to improve, but even now when I look at this sequence I can only pat myself on the back :).
I hope you guys like it and let me know what you think.
#6 is coming along very nicely and will be out hopefully pretty soon. And, as the saying goes, all hell breaks loose in #6.

I can't wait. I love your action scenes, they're incredibly detailed and beautiful.

Went to the Green Brain comics in Dearborn, MI., but still not in...
Walt -- thought your idea of having all of Iron Man's "innards" on the outside was a really original vision of how a "horrible" Iron Man might look! Thanks!
And Happy new year (again) Adi et all.

comics are a day late because of New Years. It sets the shipping off because of the days off.
I saw it on the list this morning, and it's probably the book I'm most excited to get this week. Definitely will be the first read!

It was really freaking good. I was kinda eh about tweaking Tony's origin in #1, but I really enjoyed the flashbacks in #5. The other captor was funny and the original armor has never looked so cool (especially that splash page). It looks like Warren is telling the type of story only he could.
I just really liked it and Adi I hope you keep doing sequential work after this is done (even though it takes you a long time).

Adi, is it possible for you to post the splash page of the classic costume and the splash page of the new costume?
I have no scanner and I'd like to make an avatar out of them.
Seriously, no one has drawn the classic armor to look that badass ever before.

Pardon me while I toss around the word genius, but really what else can you say? The art is unbelievable, the writing is masterly, it's just a groundbreaking vision of the Iron Man of past and future.
And, Adi, it hits you like a ton of bricks for exacly the reasons you've said, because it feels so damn real. Everything about it, the writing, the art, the dreams and realities -- it all just feels so damn real.
The new Iron Man is lean, but it's his face, his head, the hardest to render, most defining feature of him, that really strikes me here: it feels corporeal, not ancillary, but a physical part of Tony Stark, who is now clearly no longer human, but a reflection of what what humans will inevitably become.
The issue has redefined the character.

The grey costume has never, ever looked better. I was just slack-jawed looking at those images. The whole thing was great, really. (And I love the story too. Iron Man is back to being "cutting edge", not just a guy in armor that looks different but is pretty much the same)
Adi, I loved your rendition of the original suit. I've never liked its look, but you made it really seem imposing. Like actually wearing a tank! Storywise, I was quite entertained. But much as I love IM's new status, I'm a bit worried that there's really only one writer who can do the tech stuff so well that it keeps me interested, and that's Ellis. I'd hate to see it watered down or ignored by the rest of the MU creators. Because it gives Tony so much more potential. He doesn't have to be in the suit anymore to do crazy superhero stuff!

Thanks guys, I really appreaciate the great feedback, or just feedback in general. I am really happy you all seem to have enjoyed it. It was a bitch of an issue to paint but a whole lot of fun. The original IM was great to do and I liked the challenge of trying to make something which looks like a garbage can appear imposing and badass. You'll notice a lot of the angles are quite cinematic and the lighting harsh in order to give a very round and featureless design more menace.
Only one issue to go and I am quite far into it, so it shouldn't be a long wait (which is the reason #5 was that much later, to put it closer to 6).
And worry not as for what's coming after Warren and I. I've read the first couple of scripts and I was actually quite surprised at how well the writer (has he been announced?) has understood and taken Iron Man in the right direction, or so I feel. The script just felt right and VERY appropriate given the developments in our story.
Plus I have done a bit of character design for the new arc as well as some other things so I feel very happy to stay even a little involved.

If it's the guy who did Carnivale, then yes.

Adi-
Just read this issue. Your best sequential work yet, hands down. Can't wait to see #6. Stunning. This issue was so beautiful it made my wife say she wanted to read the whole series, lol. She was blown away. (She's loved your covers, but never got into any comic books themselves, except the recent Black Widow, which was Sienkewicz finishes, so she has good taste in artists at least.)
This is so much more poetic than your previous work. More fluid, organic, dynamic, confident. I'm more drawn into the characterizations too. It's been great to see the exciting development of IM matched by the stunning growth of your art. Congratulations.

Adi, just throwing my two cents in here, but this is flat-out some of the best damned Iron Man art I've seen in a comic or anywhere else. Anybody who can make the clunky IM Mark One suit look like death from above gets major respect from me.
I hope we'll see more interiors from you soon.
