Seriously I wonder if my son could be the next doogie howser md?

I ask cause I only have one son so I dont know if this is normal development or not but he is 2 years and 4 months and he can count to twenty and recite the entire alphabet. He speks in 3-4 word sentences and when you are sitting on the toilet he comes in a and tickles your leg to help you pee.

He can't read yet but recognizes all the characters in his book by name and loves Batman!

Any help here?

I'm no expert on the matter, but that doesn't really sound like genius behavior.

I don't have any credibility on pointing out who's a genius or not, but he sounds adorable.

i'm not sure about genius or not, but to give you something to compare it to, I taught myself how to read and write by the age of 3, and was writing short stories and poems by age 4. My older sister started talking when she was 6 months old, and was using nearly complete sentences (and hasn't shut up since) by the time she was 1 and a half.

My younger sister wore diapers until she was 4, drank from a bottle until she was 5, and didn't learn how to walk until she was almost 2 years old. Only at age 7 did she finally learn how to not use baby talk. Out of all of us, my baby sister is by far going to be the smartest. She's 10 now, and she's got an active interest in medicine (and can actually understand it), and other smart people shit. She watches things on tv that the rest of us can't even follow, and if she ever really applied herself she could probably skip a few grades without even trying, but she's said she doesn't want to leave her best friend behind.

So, you know, I know it's every parents dream to have a genius child, but don't judge a book by the cover just yet ;) However, the fact that he likes comics makes him a cool dude, and that's what really counts!

Sounds pretty normal. My daughter is three and was as advanced at that age.

i teach english to kids at this age level.

at two, some can sing the abc's, but they cannot recognize the characters (these are Japanese kids, and they are really one exposed to English for 30 minutes a week).

They say children are information spunges hardwired for learning. I recommend taking the oppurtunity to read to/with your son as much as possible to encourage his development. Counting past 10 is a great sign.

If nothing else, he's ahead of the curve... keep him interested and keep him thinking and he's bound to stay ahead of it

My daughter could do that stuff at that age, but not my boy.
So, congrats on your gay genius!

Your son sounds pretty smart. My girlfriend's son is 2 years and 2 months old and can only say certain words and only one at a time; he's still in the potty training phase and is still learning how to count. Then yesterday I met a girl who's the same age as him and can complete full sentences, can count to 20 and is toilet trained. I just keep hoping my girlfriend's son is just a late bloomer and isn't a sign of things to come.

I came home from work last friday and my 20 month old son told me that Woody our dog was bad.

He said "Woody bad."

I asked why Woody was bad, and he told me "Woody took cookie."

So I have a year and a half year old speaking 3 word sentences, but if he's a genius he takes after his mother. ;)

I do it cause I like the tickles!

also cause I am trying to teach the toilet training by leading by example.

If he's learning to read at 3-4 (I learned at 4) then you he's gonna be really smart.

He identifies words but can't read. I can wrte his name in different ways and he will always get it right. Same with "Stop" and "Batman" but this is just from repeated exposure. My wife is going to start the actual reading lessons soon
