I read Cryptonomicon as you can see by my sig, and read the Baroque Cycle, but never got to his early stuff. how is it? also, I read somewhere that he also writes/wrote under a pen name.

SC is the only Neal Stephenson book I've read so far. I was only recently exposed. Anyway, it's awesome. I totally recommend it.

And I'm not sure how you could discount the recommendation of an Acme Novelty fan, anyway. ;)
