What are you saying?!?
I am very pleased by the art, I really get the feeling that David is putting his heart and soul into this and it's looks to be some of his best work to date. I like the flow of the panels, it makes me feel that even without any action on these pages the fear invoked by Moon Knight to this thug is chilling. I get the feeling that there is going to be some really cool "Dirty Harry" type dialogue in these pages. At this point my only concern visually is the coloring. ;)
2 little flags pop up for me after reading the Joe Quesada interview and seeing these pages; I like the idea of Moon Knight being a baddass, however you can cross that fine line and make him into a Punisher with silver and jet costume. That is not who Moon Knight is. I understand that he is the kind of character that will fight dirty and do what is necessary to win, but he is not a killing machine. That fine line is drawn by the fact that Marc Spector as Moon Knight is trying to redeem his life as a mercenary and he would not be attempting to do so by running around and killing everyone. The other concern I have are the cetus spikes, Moon Knight has only ever used these twice in his career and both times were at moments were he he felt he needed that edge. Fighting the Werewolf by night and against the Black Spectre, who had torn Moon Knight's world down around him and had beaten him in every aspect of his life. To see him putting these on to confront a couple of thugs is rediculous and, to me, takes away from the badass factor because if he feels he needs to use them to take on a couple hoodlums he is not that badass. I know David Finch told me that the cetus spikes were going to be utilized in this 6 issue storyline and I expressed my concerns to him and he assured me that they would not be trivial in their use and that he will need to use them in this story. So, I am back to being a tad bit concerned again.
I am just as excited now for a kick ass Moon Knight ongoing series just as I have been for the last 20 years . I'm elated Marvel is allowing the opportunity for this character to shine as he so deserves to and tp raise his "B" or "C" list status character to a possible "A" list character. I have my fingers crossed.

Man, Dave, those pages look f'n awesome! Moon Knight looks like a total hardass, and I can't wait for this to come out. I'm guessing he's going to hit that thug in the face with those spikes?
Hopefully there will be a lot of that. :)

There better be Nuff said version of this book, Damn that art's pretty. Moon Knights white much like the mess...
As for story i hope they do the whole fight club deal with him always blacking out and re awakening as a new identity.
We agree though art.... Stunning can't wait.
He's going to be white Kev. Silver and jet would look waaaaaay too much like night thrasher.... Hey there's a c lister who needs a re imagining... not paired with the soon to be corsped speedball.... Hey Dave Night thrasher cameo ... how much?

I don't see how Moon Knight having a silver costume, cape/hood, gloves, boots and mask with the underside of the cape and hood jet/black would look anything like Night Thrasher and thank god for that. He is not going to be white because he has never been white, especially since I have quotes from the writer of the series, the penciler of the series and the penciler of the series relaying information about the colorist all saying he is going to be in his silver and jet outfit.

That colored image of him looks kind of off-white, but certainly not silver and black.

Oh, and if it'll make you feel a bit better, we are working on how to color him more appropriately silver. It's a challenge to get it right though. I don't want to go with the black outfit....just a preference visually.
Straight from Dave.

Hmm perhaps your avatar should change from white if you hate it so much....
All joking aside, as long as the books on time and the story holds my attention dave and crew shall be rewarded with my hard earned dollars and my first born.

Personally, I didn't find it that difficult to do. I took the original wallpaper image and did a partial desaturation and adjusted the curves on him. Frank is a great colorist and I am sure he will do an excellent job.

I don't know all that much about him either, but I'm drawn to the character for two reasons:
1) He has a wicked costume.
2) He strikes me as across between Wolverine and Batman, and those are my favorite two comic characters.
3) Most of my favorites are suffering from major over-exposure right now (Wolverine, Bats, Captain America), so I'm looking forward to Marvel re-introducing us to some lesser known characters. After all, they're 2 for 2 as far as I'm concerned with Luke Cage and Jessica Drew.
I can't wait to get the Essential Moon Knight TPB to learn more about the guy.

I'm really pumped for this book, too, but I wish it wouldn't be abbreviated MK. This is confusing the hell out of me, what with the use of MK for Marvel Knights titles.
Btw, will this book be a Marvel Knights title? Since it's a little more on the violent side, I'd think so. An "MK MK" abbreviation would look a little bit... funny. ;)

Nothing :), it's just that the white look is more striking to people in general, so I wouldn't be surprised if they went for a look closer to white, but still with touches of silver.

So to put the silver nail in the coffin.... the white reference is to the color. I was Implying that moon knight would in fact be silver and jet... however after viewing the fantastic dave's art our page would cover the silver and jet with your own natural white secreation. SPELLED OUT
No insider info though im very sure if they did a test group white would win over.
as we all know things change and last minute details are never final.

I know that the ignorance towards the character over the past 19 years, except for the 2 minis in the late 90's, that Marvel has bred has led to this belief. However, the same circumstances came up in Bowen Designs forum when they announced and showed early sculpt pics of their Moon Knight statue, coming out next year, everyone was expecting it to be white. I lobbied long and hard producing facts, including an interview with Doug Moench the creator of Moon Knight, and informed everyone there as to the true colors of Moon Knight, to which probably 95% of them were unaware of, including Randy Bowen himself. I also stated that not only is it factually correct that his costume is silver, but it looks a lot more striking and dynamic as well. After I produced all of the facts to everyone, most people still wanted the statue to be white because that's how he looks on the printed page. There was a poll set up and 60% wanted the white statue and 40% wanted the silver. Randy posted the final painted pics and he painted the statue silver. You know what the reaction was? Everyone loved it. There are about 4-5 people, that have posted on the forum, that still would like the white version. However, all of the people who fought with me tooth and nail, now love the silver version now that they see it. I proved my point it was just the mindset. So, I could have kept my mouth shut and allowed the white statue to be produced, but after being a fan of this character for 25 years and seeing him misrepresented for 18 years in comics and in merchandise, I feel the time is right to set the record straight and have this chracter shine as he can, and I don't mean that beacause he is silver. ;-) We are not limited now as we were back in the 80's by the 4 color printing process, which is why he was white on the printed page in the first place just like the Silver Surfer was. So, why continue to do so? To me it is not just the fact that he is silver, but the silver is more striking and dynamic, just as I proved with the statue the same holds true here as well. I have used that pic on my Moon Knight Yahoo Group for a poll to see which people like the best, the left(white) or the right(silver) and out all of the votes I have received so far there is not one vote for the left(white) they are all for the right(silver). I just feel that if you are going to put this character in the spotlight then do it correctly. I'ld be willing to bet the only reason the picture looks the way it does is because the editor on the book wasn't aware that Moon Knight is silver and directed Frank to do so, which is probably why the crescent darts look more gold than silver. Heck, up until just recently Dave still drew Moon Knight with the gold belt, boot and wrist cuffs, in the Wizard pin up and in Avengers disassembled. ;-)

When I look at these two covers the one on the right looks very dynamic and Moon Knight appears to pop out at you, it looks 3 dimensional. Wheras the one on the left looks flat and lifeless, to me.

Sorry, but he looks too metallic to me in the one on the right. Like a statue or something.
I'm kind of glad they're going with the one on the left.

Yeah, I noticed that. Looked pretty good too. But did you see him in the bottom right hand corner of the promo image for Civil War? His costume was black or dark grey with a white cloak and hood. Kind of like it was in Marvel Team-Up. I hope this doesn't turn into another scenario like Wolverine's new costume, where every artist draws it differently.
Speaking of, have you heard the good news, Kev? Quesada said that they're bringing back the brown and tan costume (or some variation of it) for Wolverine. That's always been my favorite costume of his, as you can see from my avatar.

Yes, I did see the promo pic for Civil War with Moon Knight on the cover, I kinda like it. Who knows, maybe Moon Knight will be silver in the first six issue story arc and then change it to black and silver thus reflecting the Civil War cover? ;-) I am glad that Marvel has decided to bring back the brown and tan Wolverine costume, for myself it has always been my favorite, and for you because you desreve it. Have a Happy Holidays to you rwsmith. Happy Holidays to Dave and everyone else here.
