Okay, it's December, so naturally I'm going to be hearing Christmas music wherever I go. I don't like it, but I've come to accept it for 1/12th of my year.

But last I checked, there were more songs than "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." Somehow, on hold, at the grocery store, at the Post Office and eveyrwhere else I've been in the last week or so, this is the only Christmas carol I hear. Enough already! :x :x :x

I love Christmas music so much. I'm a cheesy Xmas freak. Hate religion, just like the faux sentimentality and tradition. I'm on full Christmas music mode, and it's killing my roommates. I just bought the Rat Pack and Barenaked Ladies Xmas albums. Yayyy!!!

I like my Nat King Cole Christmas CD, and that's about it.

I worked 2 jobs in a mall from Black Friday to Christmas eve. I'm finally over the shellshock of that Chinese water torture... but it's creeping back since there seems to be just the one carol this year.

I worked at various Kmarts and Walmarts for the past four Christmases. I think the experience has only enhanced my need to lose myself in the holiday. Or else I'd start firebombing.

For you Al....

You know dasher and dancer and Prancer and Vixen.
Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen.
But do you recall, the most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

Johnny Mathis. The only Christmas music I like.

I'm making mini-CDs for my Christmas cards. Everyone seems to love them so far.

As for what I've gotten this year, I picked up Johnny Cash and the Yulesville comp, finally got my own copy of The Ventures Christmas Album and am waiting for the Reverend Horton Heat CD to come in at the music store.

Anyone know a decent comp with Chuck Berry's Run Run Rudolph on it? I've been trying to get that forever, but most of the time when I find it I would have to get a ton of crap with it.

Listen, really listen to Dean Martin singing "Baby it's Cold Outside". It sounds like a date rape is about to happen.

One of our local radio stations had gone to all Christmas music until the 26th.

I actually like it because every once in a while they play something obscure. I mean, I haven't heard them play "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight)" or anything, but some stuff I wouldn't normally hear. One of my friends said she heard them play Dolly Parton from Best Little Whorehouse in Texas the other day.

"Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses is the greatest Christmas song ever.

I'm also a fan of Gary Hoey's "Ho Ho Hoey" where he takes various christmas songs and turns them into metalized guitar instrumentals. There's also a similar collection out there from various guitar players called "Merry Axemas" which is also pretty cool. And of course, there are the two Chirstmas CDs from Trans Siberian Orchestra which are well worth hearing...

My girlfriend was playing this the other day while I was doing dishes and I had the very same uncomfortable feeling start to nag at me.

I love that song, there's a bunch of great covers of it. My favorite is Zooey Deschanel on the Elf soundtrack.

(And you tend to see it in bargin bins and gas stations)
Buy it immediately. If it doesn't make you laugh I'll send you a cash refund.(a lie) But seriously. It's really funny. Not on purpose, but still.

What's up with that?
Who even cares about Rudolph anymore?

I really don't like about 99% of Christmas music. I think the hatred started when I worked long hours at Sears, and from Mid-November until January I would hear nothing but Christmas songs. The music was also supplemented by the Christmas videos I had to show since I worked in the TV department. The same videos every goddamn hour...

Now, the woman I work with turns on MY radio to Christmas music stations all day long. AARRRGG.

"On the first day of christmas santa gave to me spliff"
