Need to see if this story is collected, as I want to buy it in some form for my sister for christmas.

It's from the 60s or 70s I THINK (I may have had a reprint). It's about Batman basically recounting with Robin all the stories behind the various batsuits. Like how he had to wear a white version in the snow. I think there was a gold suit as well.

If I'm not mistaken, the cover has him saying something like "I hope I never have to wear this suit again!"

I'd also like to ID the Superman story where he is eating a huge pile of hamburgers on the cover.

We're getting closer!

Hmm, doesn't look like it's in "Batman in the fifties"

That sounds as zany as the story when the Penguin came to Batman for help because his nice old aunty (or grandma I can't remember) was coming to town and he didn't want her to know that he was a criminal. He ends up fighting crime with Batman and Robin while she is in town (and I believe happily goes to jail when she leaves) Ah simple times.

might be 1962

it's in the first batman annual (80pg giant) it's on the cover, but I can't get a story title.

I think the Batman story is from The Batman Giant Annual #1, called "Strange costumes of Batman". Here's the cover

Nick, I KNOW I bought this in a 1970's reprint comic.

It's obviously one of those stand out stories, don't give up.

Well, I guess I can't get it in a collection. Oh well. I have that annual sitting around somewhere in my closet, but a wrinkly old yellow copy won't work very well on her bookshelf. Come on, DC, publish some "weird tales of batman" collections or something!

Unless of course it's in one of the Batman archives?

Besides Detective 165 and Batman Annual #1 it's reprinted in Batman 259 as well.

Some dude is selling a much nicer copy of Batman 259 (i think that IS the one I have, though I'm not positive) on ebay. Maybe I could get her that and board it up nice. Oooh I could also scan a cool panel and print up a big print of it for her to go with it.

I think it's the 60s or 70s, but I could be wrong. I'm doing this from memories of this big box of comics I got from my aunts and uncles. I don't think I had a reprint though, and I think it was just a regular issue... not an annual or special?? Could be wrong.

The cover is Superman scarfing down a huge pile of burgers.

Oh man, it looks like Batman Archives vol 6 stops JUST SHORT of this story. #7 will definitely have it, but it's not out yet as far as I can tell.
