Okay, slight rant.
I actually didn't have the strength to watch a subtitled movie right now so I just watched the fight scenes in Fist of Fury. Awesome stuff but god damn I forgot how much I hated watching Bruce Lee's movies with volume on :?
Strangely enough, while I completely and utterly DESPISE arrogance and posing when it comes to martial arts, he's one of the VERY few who I don't mind watching because he was only arrogant because he knew he was the best fighter there and just happened to be right. I can't forgive him for the posing though.
Van Damme is nowhere near 1 percent of 1 percent of 1 percent in the same class as Bruce Lee but at least when he poses we don't get ten seconds of posing along with looking and sounding like he's constipated :?
I've been in more fights in my life than I care to admit and there's one thing I know. Posing does NOT help or impress. Take even one second to pose and try to look cool and you're screwed. I know it was for the sake of the movie but Bruce seemed to REALLY try to pose as often as was possible. Pisses me off.
I hate to say this as a martial arts fan. He was the greatest of his time, but if I had to choose what to watch, Bruce Lee at is best of Jackie Chan or someone at their most mediocre, I'd pick the mediocre performance in a heart beat :?

The schools I went to killed my love of sports. Where I went, EVERYONE treated you like shit if you didn't like sports. The teachers more than the students half the times. I couldn't safely play because of my neck and back problems and I was treated like shit by the teachers because of that. There was a lot more but those were contributing factors.
All that aside though, I have no problem with sports. It's the attitude that sports brings out in 99.9% of the people who watch and play sports that I don't like.
