OK i mentioned this before but now i am expanding on it.

I am going to change my sams club membership to a business one this week. Its actually 5 bucks cheaper then mine and i do have my own business (STOJR CONSULTING)
This membership will allow me into the store 3 hours earlier then normal club members
I am going to purchase 2 360ittys and put one on ebay
I am hopeing to get 800-1000 dollars on ebay for the one so that it offsets the cost of mine
My question is what suggestions do you have for putting something this large on ebay? Wait a week or two before christmas? Use paypal? Have them send a check? 7 day auction?

I dont sell things on ebay that often so any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd have them use PayPal.

Also look at eBay and see how people with high Buy Now options handle their buying requirements.

Don't you remember when the PS2 came out? People were paying over 1000 for something that cost $300 originally.

Edit: On a side note sto, I would bring someone with you. They might do that "Limit 1 per person" especially with the 360.

I doubt you would get that much for one selling it. The Core systems should be in decent supply. Those are less than 800 bucks, even after buying the extra equipment.

What's your ebay rating?

Cause that might hurt your chances of it getting sold.

Likewise, there's a TON of scam artists out there, especially for something like this. All they gotta do is say it never arrived, and paypal will refund their money.

It's a good plan though.. but like others said, they'll likely have a 1 per shopper limit to avoid such scenarios.

I'd still be leery.. he should do some research on it at least for potential pitfalls to keep an eye out for.

But yeah, always use tracking and/or signature confirmation.

A lot of those PS2 numbers were due to their very limited production. Once they sold out of the initial PS2's there were no more coming in to restock. My guess is that Microsoft is a little smarter about this and will have a lot more available and hopefully shipments will come weekly to restock. Still, there will be some shortages, and there are plenty of people on eBay who are stupid enough to pay a marked up price. If you can get two, selling the other will probably get you enough money to offset some of the cost of the first one. Though I don't think you'll get enough to cover it entirely. Definately bring a friend, because my guess is that they will have a limit one per customer.

The best way to get people to bite on Christmas items is to offer fast shipping. Overnight or guarunteed. Remember people are most likely buying this as a gift to someone else. If you wait till 10 days before Christmas and put up the auction with overnight or 2-days shipping, people will bite.

this is very true, but there were still ps2s to be had in stores around Christmas ( at least near me...) and Microsoft did just cut their initial shipment in half. So it's likely the same types of shortages will apply...

yeah i heard somehting like they are only making 400,000 units but i am not sure if that is initial shipment or all before xmas. They do expect shortages though but who knows.

The safety net in this plan is if i can return the second unopened one if i cant sell it.

I like your plan--I am going to steal that one to add to my own.

I have one reserved (guaranteed), but am trying to get a few more for some people I know and to Ebay. I plan on camping out at Best Buy just for the experience and then hitting the regular stores at opening on the 22nd.

I also plan on ebaying the first week in December after everybody realizes they couldn't get one because there will be shortages.

I've returned stuff to Sam's before and you only have 7 days to return it. I returned a video game I bought there, and since I paid for it with a check I could only get my money back in gift card form. I'd double-check the policies online if I were you.

I don't know if it's true, but I heard the way Best Buy was doing things was they would be handing out tickets before the store opens to people in line. Then they will randomly draw numbers to see who gets the machine. The supposed reason is to prevent campouts overnight.

Dunno if that's just rumor or store policy though.

This is what you do:

Get them. Wait one week or however long it take for the stores to be sold out. Look around and see if you can find any, if you can't, that's the time.

Make sure that you DOCUMENT as much as you can when you post that listing!!! People might think you're ripping them off with photoshop or a mock-up or something. Post a pic of the receipt maybe?

Make them use PayPal. It will save your butt.

Spend the money on hookers.

I managed to watch the 360 in action at Best Buy this weekend. One of the gabillion games imitating Saving private Ryan was in the system. The graphics were sterling and crisp, but the game was played on a Samsung HD flatscreen. No telling what it will look like on a regular TV set.

I bought myself Quake 4 for the PC, and was blown away by the graphics for THAT game. WOW.

I preordered a PS2, bought it for $300 and put it on eBay the next day. I ended up getting over $600 + s&h and I was on the low end of the ones selling them. It's still the only PS2 I've ever owned. I'd have done the same for the 360, but I don't have the money to front right now.

If you do end up getting 2, I'd sell them both on eBay. If you really want one, wait a month and buy one for retail price at any store, but right now is the time to sell as many as you can!

When the PS2 was released, Best Buy handed out numbers matching their quantity to those who lined up. This way, the parking lot and sidewalks were cleared. Those of us in line who got a number were asked to come back when the store opened and were directed to a special pick-up area. Smartly, this area (near the customer service section) was packed with PS2 accessories, including a package deal on games and memory cards. This area also served as an advertisement to other shoppers as to how the store served its customers. I thought it was all well done on their part.

The real kicker with Best Buy is that they are only giving out half of their inventory tonight. I doubt the store got more than 50, so the game for tonight is already over.

Target is doing the get a number thing tomorrow--I guess Best Buy will try the same for tomorrow's opening.

That might hurt you. That's very little feedback, if I was a buyer I might think you'd be willing to take a negative hit and steal my money rather than send it. You don't have much to risk.

I'm not saying you would of course. I'm just saying that is what alot of people would think. I never buy anything expensive from someone with less than 200 positive feedbacks.

So...My roommate camped out in front of Best Buy Yesterday (he got in line at about 3:30pm)....was 5th in line. Got home at like 8:45AM this morning with a 360 in hand. I'll probably play it when I get home from work. He got Perfect Dark: Zero. Didn't buy an extra controller yet, though...the bastard. :D

The Best buy was actually pretty cool (I hung out with him for a few hours after bringing him some food). The Best buy was giving sweaters out to anyone who was too stupid to dress warm. They also bought pizza for everyone at the end of the night. Then they gave everyone a coupon pack that had a bunch of 10% and 20% cupons for different DVDs, video games and X-box 360 accessories....which I thought was neat.

just thought I'd share.

there is nothing wrong with wanting to make a profit.

i know... i was just all hyped up for the last few weeks over getting one to play, but then i realized i didn't actually want one as badly as i thought... and that i wasn't gona bust my ass to find one on release day... so i'm more upset at myself for getting hyped for nothing :)
