So one of the twerps at the local comic shop finally made me sit down with a stack of Manhunter. I've read a lot of the old stuff, but to be honest, there wasn't much appeal to me for the new series. The solicit made it sound a lot like the X-Cutioner from Marvel (remember him? No? You're not missing much) given a sex change and plopped into the DCU.
The actual book was much better than the solicit, which I would hope is the case with all comics, but sadly, sometimes isn't. One of the character quirks that never, ever needs to change: Kate MUST make 80's references whenever possible. It was an unexpected and highly entertaining character trait.
I could go on about other things I liked/disliked (although the former is a much longer list than the latter), but to be honest, I'm new here, and I don't want to go shooting my mouth off if I'm the only one who cares about my opinions. :blah:
This month I picked up issue 15 (the others will be in trades, right?). I liked the vignette setup. Very well done origins for the equipment (although I had the Darkstar suit pegged in issue 1).
Like I said, I've got more if you want to hear it. Mainly I just wanted to let you know I liked the book, and I'll be adding it to my stack from now on.
