I picked up the digest the other day and wow... This book was just insanely out there. A whole bunch of cool cyberpunk elements and ideas smashed together with some great art by Rick Mays. It's like reading a less depressing Warren Ellis story. It just pains me that a lot of the Marvel Next characters might not go beyond their initial mini-series. This book is definatly up there with the likes of Runaways and Gravity in my book.

Wasn't Livewires the series by Adam Warren?

Where did Rick Mays come in? Oh-- I see now-- I thought it was all Warren. My bad. What I saw of the Warren series was really, REALLY cool. Good to hear that it's collected now.

Oh I KNOW I want more of this. It was ended on kind of a cliffhanger too. Bummer! Keep the writer on, and get Arthur Adams and his own Shirow Masamune sensibilities on the artwork? This book would... Well, there aren't words for how good it would be. It'd be GOOD okay? Really really good.

Adams would be a pretty cool choice, but I'm not gonna slight the job that Mays did. I don't even really like Manga influenced art, but Mays and Takashi Mikazawa or whatever his name is are growing more fondness from me.

I liked the story but not particularly Mays's work

According to Joe Quesada at WWBoston, there's a plan in place to get most of the Marvel Next characters into the greater Marvel U, but it's a slow roll out in order to help make them stick. He cited Gravity's upcoming appearance in MTU and Scoprion's appearance in Incredible Hulk as examples.

I was actually really surprised at how good it was. Mays' art was a decent emulation of Warren, and the W-man can write. The digest is also quite a steal for it's price. I enjoyed it.

What a fantastic book. Full of character and with a voice that was so unique.

Yeah, I find that admirable as hell, really. Here's hoping they really do stick.

I just picked this up this weekend, and loved it. I had bought the first issue originally, but honestly, I didn't trust it to get any better, so I "waited for the trade" or in this case, the digest. And it was totally rad! I thought Mays did a wonderful job, and the story was really cool and eerie at times. I haven't felt so moved by a bunch of robots (sorry to use the R-word) being destroyed since Bladerunner. I urge anybody who hasn't checked this out to pick up the digest. It's a steal at only $10 for, what, six issues? Great stuff.
