Is this just an attempt to try to cover Dunst's slip of the tongue?

It's definitely an attempt to cover for Dunst.....unless Dunst "slipping" was all part of their master plan to confuse the fans. They might have known that of all the actors in the film we'd not be surprised by Dunst being dumb enough to let slip the villain for the next film. I'm not convinced either way.

This probably is a cover up, however didn't Dunst say that the Lizard was going to be in the 2nd one a long time ago?

I thought the Lizard was a foregone conclusion for part 3 seeing as Dr Connors was in part 2

I'd take Mysterio and Rhino over Venom and Sandman.

I actually love the idea of Sandman. Venom, not so much. I think Lizard and Sandman would make for a great movie.

Ok technically, but I got the impression she meant the scaly side.
Also, I'm pleased with this turn of events as even though Venom is considered by many to be a sub par character, the fights he produces will be crazy to watch. A webslinging fight between the two through the New York skyline? That'll be some cool stuff.
I never really think Kraven would work because his concept is a little goofy plus you would never be able to have his best storyline make it to the big screen (Kraven's Last Hunt).
