View Full Version : Well, I put my faith in ya'll...just bought Firefly and Battlestar Galactica!

Well, I did it.

I just ordered Firefly: Complete Series and Battlestar Galactica: Season One (plus the miniseries) online.

To be fair, I watched one episode of Firefly last week, the episode titled "Ariel," and it was my first exposure to the show. I was really impressed by what I saw. It looks like a fun show, so I thought, "Why not?" and just ordered the set.

But I haven't really seen Battlestar Galactica, though I'm a big sci-fi fan. What sold me was all your praise, plus the fact that lots of critics (like Matt Roush of TV Guide) have said it's an outstanding series, and I really enjoy the work of Edward James Olmos, so again, I figured, "Why not?"

I don't have buyer's remorse. (Though it has only been about 20 minutes since I placed the order. :))

Worst case scenario, I turn around and resell the sets after I watch them, taking a loss but at least getting some of my money back. Best case scenario: I find two new really cool shows to watch and enjoy.

Hope you guys are right about these shows... ;)

You shouldn't be disappointed. Firefly is excellent and you'll have it done in time to watch the film before it's gone from theaters.

Battlestar Gallactica should have been a trainwreck but somehow it ended up being pretty darn good. Probably the best "should be horrible" series since Batman Beyond. :D

Watch Veronica Mars.

Oh, I know about Veronica Mars...fantastic show. I didn't watch this week's premiere, but only because of the conflict with Lost. It repeats on my local UPN affiliate tomorrow night at 8pm, so I'll definitely catch it then.

He said that he's a big science fiction fan. I'm not really clear on why you watched something you knew you'd hate.

I'll get the first season of Veronica Mars, but October is a killer month for me as far as DVDs are concerned...it may end up being a Christmas gift from family or friends.

Oh, and I like fun. Just wanted to put that on record.

Regardless, if I recall correctly, you hate the genre of both of these shows, so I'm not sure why you're cautioning a fan of the genre from watching them.

I want that, but I'm so far behind I still need season 3.

Don't know about Firefly, never seen it. But you did not go wrong with Battlestar Galactica, it is a damn fine show.

If you want more, try out the new Doctor Who.
