Taken from Marc's board on GeoffJohns.com:

well, i know you regulars aren't the crowd i should be talking to (since you support the book already), BUT i have a very URGENT REQUEST:

if you want Manhunter to continue, the sales need to go up. No, we're not cancelled yet, but if things continue they way they are saleswise.... you know the drill.

The thing that is really frustrating is we have been getting great reviews and word-of-mouth. People who try the book start picking it up regularly. Stores are selling out....BUT, apparently, lots of stores are only ordering copies for pull customers, some stores aren't ordering any, or, most confusing of all, selling out, but NOT REORDERING!!!

so, this is not a death notice. in fact, there is some great Manhunter stuff planned for the months ahead (both in the regular book and other places...heh-heh-heh) and the TPB in the fall should be a big help!

but, i'm asking you guys 'cuz i love these characters and want to write Manhunter for a long time to come. your support has been so moving and gratifying....so, if you wanna help, get your pals to try MH! my buy back offer still stands!

we don't need sales to increase 5,000 copies in a month (not that we wouldn't love that), but DC needs to see some upward motion on the sales charts -- 50 here, a hundred there. every copy helps!

so, please forgive my crude pleas and accept my thanks for all you've done already.

I saw some copies in the clearance bin at my shop- gonna pick them up and pass them around (that way I don't have to loan out my own copies).

This is the only DC Universe book I read. The only one. No others. There's a really good reason behind that, which is that it is that damn good.

I called Jeffery Friday and had him put all the issues he had in my folder (1-8, I believe). He's going to send them with my books next week.

If I dig it, I'm going to add it to my pull folder.

I don't want to see this book get cancelled. This could be the Starman of this decade. It's a good read that brings in the legacy of older generations of Manhunters.

Well, the verdict is in and I have to be honest. I just read the first 4 issues and that's about all I can take.

Sorry to say, but there are just too many holes in the plot. Like no explanation at all as to how a chain-smoking lawyer on her very first attempt at being a superhero has the athletic ability and physical endurance to not only beat, but KILL a sadistic super human serial killer who's killed several dozen people including trained police officers.

And for all the drama surrounding Ramsey in the 3rd issue, there's not a single mention of him in issue #4. Is he dead? Did he recover? How was there a supposed gas explosion and yet no police investigation or real suspicion from the doctor? Just way too much goes unexplained.

Suspension of disbelief is one thing, but it has to make some sense.

Love the art, but the writing is just "meh" for me.

Even though I didn't enjoy it, I don't wish any ill will on any book. So I hope there are enough people out there who enjoy it enough to keep it going.

sorry it wasn't your cup of tea, man. (and the threads with ramsey, the explosion, and kate's prowess are already unfolding as planned FYI).

thanks for the attempt,

Just in case you didn't see my comment on the Bendis Board.

Issue 5 gives some explanation into how she was able to take on a sadistic super human serial killer...has something to do with the suit.

With issue #8, one new reader here.

.......

I had been wanting to try MANHUNTER for months, and with the cancellation of a couple of titles, and a few mini-series' ending (yea, it's a sad deal that with the cost of these things some unknown quantities often have to take the hit when they don't deserve that fate) -- not too mention a few favorite guest-stars showing up, I finally took the plunge. Glad I did!

I plan to get the recently announced TPB as well, so hopefully it'll count for something where Manhunter's future is concerned.

Good luck in the endeavors folks!
