Just finished this after receiving it yesterday.

Damn fine piece of storytelling. Damn fine piece of comics.

And I feel my knowledge of Iranian life has increased exponentially.

Very good.

did you get both volumes?

the author also wrote another book, sort of a follow up, called 'Embroideries', which deals with the way these Iranian women view sex, gender, and their roles and their beliefs in both their countries traditions, but their own, personal views as well.

now read Persepolis 2
it's about looking at that world through the eyes of a bitter teenager as opposed to a precocious child

I really enjoyed both volumes. She also did a book called Embroideries. It's a little more lighter fare, but still interesting and enlightening.

I'd recommend David B's EPILEPTIC. Another great book.

what is this book about?

Persepolis or Epileptic?

Persepolis is about Marjane Satrapi growing up in Iran during wars and changing government.

Epileptic is about how epilepsy affects the family and the lives of each member. How they cope with it, the hope each possible cure gives them and the aftermath when it doesn't work out; it's a powerful book.

Yeah,

Persepolis 2, Epileptic, and The Black Hole hardcover mentioned earlier are moved to the top of my most wanted list.
