What'll you do if Loeb turns the Ultimates into this lame silver-age throwback crap that he's doing in Supergirl right now? 'Cause seriously, the only thing I can think of right now is running like hell.

Oh, I dropped the book once I found out Mad was drawing it. His work never appealled to me.

Dropping already. If they turn out to surprise everyone with a decent follow-up to Millar/Hitch I'll pick up the eventual HC.

Millar/hitch hasn't been as perfect as you all make them out to be, so I'll still be giving it a shot.

What would you do if you were offered tickets to see:
Hall and Oates shot from a cannon into a net filled with cupcakes
or
the corpse of Robert Urich reanimated and made to star on a Broadway production of his former show VEGAS
and you could only pick one?
T
(oh, and Loeb is your date)
I'm no Loeb fan, but I'm interested in seeing how he'll use Ultimate Hulk on the team.

I'd wipe my ass with it, put it in a paper bag, place said bag on my neighbor's porch and set the bag on fire.
What? To honest? :mistrust:

If I would have used a point, it would be sure, but so, something can follow
like stop buying it, but maybe the HC later on, even if it sucks ;)

Luckily its only a comic book and not a life changing decision, so I will give it a go for a few issues and if I like it, keep buying it. If after a few issues I think it stinks, I will stop buying it.

Oh, no-- someone is doing something different with the Ultimates. As it is my right, I shall drop it without giving it a chance, all because I think Mad! is overrated and draws too cartoony and Loeb will ruin it with his on-again, off-again writing.
Ultimates is a classic series of over 20 issues in what-- 5 years? To change something so classic is to go against the will of God himself! How will I EVER deal with this? Whine whine whine.
Heaven forbid.

I'm all for seeing if a change this radical can work. I'll be picking it up-- I look FORWARD to it.

It all depends on how they end this arc. if I like it, I'll keep reading. If not, I won't.

I'll give Loeb a fair shake, since I haven't read anything of his I haven't liked. But Joe Madureira on the other hand, I can live without. I think Loeb will do well, but Mad worries me. I look forward to the bi-yearly Ultimates 3!
.....Duh? I'm afraid this is too witty even for me. :mistrust:
See, I would think the Hall/Oates Cannon and Cupcakes spectacle would be the way to go. Can you imagine your companion-for-the-evening Loeb giggling in delight as the Pop Duo land safely in a cascade of pastries?

It'll all work out. Loeb's a pro when not hindered by tie-ins. I've never seen Joe Madieura draw any character I was interested in before, so I'll give him a chance, too.
Silver Age homages are usually pretty cool by me. I will say that Loeb's run on Superman was un-freakin'-readable, though.

Hey, all I said is that I'm SCARED. I'll read it. But I have no interest at all in this useless nostalgia crap Loeb does. If I want nostalgia, I'll just go back and read the real thing, not pay 3 bucks for a cheap copy of it.
Hall and Oats, no question.
Methinks I need to forward this to Ask AAl.

Have you read any Loeb books besides Batman/Superman? He does write stuff that is not Silver Age stroke fests. And he's damn good at it.

Yes, I have, sir. I know he can do different, sir. But I'm afraid he may choose to do the same here, sir. Am I not allowed to think that way, sir?
(Hush was an overhyped piece of crap with a shitty ending, btw)
