Ultimate Spiderman: Probrably the best issue I've ever read. Goddamn I wasn't expecting this arc to be my favorite when it was first announced but jesus I'm loving it. So much going on, I think Wolfe is the best character the book has ever had. Love her!

House of M: Finally it got rolling and Cyclops' speach gave me literal goosebumps. I understood exactly what he was saying, he was talking to them like soldiers not superheroes. If you don't put all the morals away then we fail, simple as that. Powerful stuff. Cage's scene gave him a moment of vulnerablity that finally made the character trancend to a level of identifiablity. I always liked him always respected him but I had never Identified with him before. Weakness does that.

Jessica's speech was also equally brilliant. Another one of those things that makes sense when you think about it even if it was flawed. She was wrong because of the blonde mystery girl they found, if it was meant to be then it wouldn't have fallen apart so easily. Drew was talking about fate and forgot to put herself and the people she was surrounded by into her thought.

Gotham Central: haven't read it yet.

Fell #1 My experience w/ Ellis is hit and miss, but this one is definately a hit. At a mere 1.99 for the first issue, we are given a self contained story. We know more is coming, but if you never read another issue again, you can say you got a full story.

Nice introduction, and of course, the Templesmith art is right up my alley. His work here is a bit more..disciplined..I guess. (or maybe it is just that the 'sketchy', dark type of sort of incomplete characters he drew with such success with 30 Days of Night.

House of M #6 Loved the tender moment of sorts w/ Luke, and I am looking forward to some ass kicking next issue.

Supreme Power: Nighthawk #1 Kick-ass, funny, over the top, sarcastic, and one hell of a read. After losing interest in the main series, this gives me what I am looking for.

Ghost Rider #1 Great art, but so far the story doesn't pull me in. Will check out the second issue, but can't guarantee anything beyond that.

bought but haven't read yet:

Shocking Gun Tales
Swamp Thing Digest
Sea of Red
Dracula vs. King Arthur

USM, loved it. black cat is fucking nuts. there is gonna be major shit storm coming. cant wait to se it.

HOM, fun stuff. enjoyable read. nice to see little miss perfect white queen not know waht to do.

Fell, great crime story. i really want to read more. this guy is one kick ass cop. that is one desperate drunk.

ronin hood FCBD issue, my LCS owner thought i would want this. why now? it is signed my Mr. Amano! technically not a bought thought cuz it was free. but it is way cool.

Bob Dylan, "No Direction Home (The Bootleg Series Vol. 7)." Unlike the other volumes in this series (I think), there's no theme here...just two discs of alt takes, demos 'n such. I've listened to a little bit, and I think this will be pretty cool...much as recently discovering The Gaslight Tapes was. Don't forget the corresponding PBS special at the end of the month.

Marvin Gaye, "What's Going On (Deluxe Edition)." Haven't cracked this one yet, but I've heard that the "Detroit mix" is even better than the original album.

Also haven't yet had time to watch Pete Townshend: Music from Lifehouse or X: The Unheard Music.

Oh...did you mean what comics I bought?

Didn't make it to the LCS today.

House of M- this seems to be a repeating trend in this mini series- 18 pages of talking, 4 pages of action, and then it's over. very frustrating...

Y the Last Man- for the first time, i'm happy to see penis in comics. wait, huh?

I started reading Fell #1- very quirky so far- just what i love.

Cable and Deadpool- PICK OF THE WEEK! A serious issue... that's actually very solid. The flashbacks (particularly Deadpool's) were surprising and interesting. Zircher's art is beautiful (why Cable is in X-Man's costume on the cover I have no idea, though) and the whole thing is just a great package. Can't wait for next issue when they go toe to toe with Powerman and Iron Fist. 9/10

FF: House of M- The best House of M tie-in comes to an end. I really didn't expect to enjoy this, but it turned out VERY good. I think it would have been cool if Reed had turned out to be the It, but alas. Doom has always been undone by his massive ego, and this story is no exception. Hell, it's the reason his face was destroyed in the first place. I really enjoyed the idea that, even after being given his heart's desires, it still wasn't enough. 9/10

House of M- Probably the weakest issue thus far. Not that the issue is bad, it's good, just not as good as the rest. Man, thank God Cage has unbreakable skin because Bendis gave him a BIG 'OL Nut shot this issue, yet it was still one of my favorite parts. Hmmm. 8/10

Ghost Rider- Cool. Beautiful art, interesting story. Looks like Marvel is pulling out the stops to make this book readable before the movie comes out. 8/10

Colossus- Meh. I liked the references to Astonishing, and I actually thought the art was pretty decent, but it's kind of up in the air. Not sure if I'll pick up the next issue or not. 7/10

Spidergirl- Still haven't read.

Seven Soldiers Guardian #4 $2.99 - I think this was my favorite 7 Soldiers issue yet. Those characters were great.

Shazam Superman First Thunder #1 $3.50- Good stuff. I really liked the way Middleton draws billy. He looks like a kid, not a small adult.

Superman #221 $2.50 - The Bizzaro dialogue was a little wonky and Jimmy was acting out of character, but I still liked it. Nice art.

Villains United #5 $2.50 - Hmmmm. So many interesting things going on. It's really cool that this story is building parts of a much larger story while telling a really entertaining one at the same time.

Y The Last Man #37 $2.99 - Oof. I love never knowing what to expect from this book. (And "Zombies!")

PvP #18 $2.99 - Always good for a giggle.

Fantastic Four House Of M #3 $2.99 - Much better than I ever thought it would be. The art was great, the fight too.

House Of M #6 $2.99 - As cool as the fight was, the little moments really got me. Cage calling Jessica, Peter's reactions... all that stuff. It makes the big story have great impact.

Marvel Team-Up #12 $2.99 - Very, very interesting.

Supreme Power Nighthawk #1 $2.99 - Pretty good. I was looking to cut back but Dillon sucked me in. I just love the guy's art. Story was pretty good, I'll get the next issue.

Ultimate Spider-Man #82 $2.50 - Warriors has been great. Really exciting, great energy to it.

Uncanny X-Men #464 $2.50 - I'm not sure what the hell is going on. Nice art.

Serenity #3 Middleton Cvr $2.99 - Beauty of a cover, good story. Helped get me all psyched (Not that I wasn't to begin with) for the movie.

I just read the X-Men: Age of Apocalypse mini-series Marvel put out and WOW! I loved this storyline when they first did it and Yoshida and Bachalo came up with a great sequel to it. Love Bachelo's art, especially the opening pages on the later issues. And Yoshida, overall, wrote a great story. One or two bits that were a bit lame, I always like how they want to kill their opponent, comment that they should, but they won't, of course then you have Magneto who didn't seem to mind so much...he can be ruthless when you screw with his family.

Hope to see Marvel release another AoA mini in the future.

Spider-Man Unlimited #6-10 - great stories, except for the opener in issue 8 Fanboyz by Joe Hill and Seth Fisher, which just SUCKED! Not a great opener for an excellent second story. A lot of good stories in this title, looking forward to Reed & Lark and of course Beland.

Captain America #9 by Brubaker & Lark - this series is so freaking good! I definitely want Brubaker/Epting/Lark when possible to stay on this title for a long time to come. I'm going to give my buddy a copy of the big HC when it comes out to show him what he's missing.

NightHawk #1- Dillon belongs on books like Nighthawk. He needs to be drawing violent, horrible acts, he's just perfect at it.
I actually wasn't planning on picking this one up, but gave it a try anyway and I wasn't dissappointed.
8/10

USM #82- I loved the scene where Peter, in terror, erased the message. What kid hasn't done that in some form or another, Lord knows I did. That's going to come and bite him in the ass. I was actually expecting Ultimate Moon Knight to be a kid from how Bagley drew him, but this way works too.
8/10

House of M #6- I'm really worried about the conclusion thats coming up with this one. I just don't see how it can be wrapped up in time. Also, I'm beginning to worry that there isn't going to be a big SHOCKER ending. The action was good, I loved Spidey's guilt and Cage's phone call. I just found parts to be lacking.
6/10

Ghost Rider #1- The art is insanely good, especially for this story, except that's the thing, the story ain't holding up to well. I'm a huge GR fan, it was the character that basically got me into comics when I was young. It's just that this seems like another Ghost Rider story that completely throws continuity out the window. Yes Ghost Rider did "technically" show up in this issue, but it was basically all flashback so I feel kind of cheated.
4/10

Villains United #5- BOOK OF THE WEEK! I loved this issue as we finally find out who the traitor is and Catman and Deadshot throw down. I'm literally on the edge of my seat for the next issue. Skillfully writen and great artwork.
10/10

Fell #1: This was fantastic. Everyone complaining about decompression should read this book. An entire story told in less then one average length issue. Templesmith's art was great. I liked it much better then his work on 30 Days of Night. The Back Matter essay was almost as good as the story.
10 out of 10 (My pick of the week, for what it's worth)

HOM #6: This book is okay. Like Jonny said, it's talky for most of the book then 4 pages of action then done. The cliffhanger in this issue left me saying, "Meh." I'll finish this series out, but I'm hoping the last two issues really blow me away.
6 out of 10

Punisher #25: Now this is how you start an arc (as opposed to Ghost Rider #1, see my thoughts in the review section)!!! There is a nice bit of action in the begining, the setup in the middle of the issue was handled well (a bit of mystery but enough info given out to make the story exciting), and the last page was perfection.
9 out of 10

I've still yet to read:

Ghost Rider #1: This was the first issue of GR I've EVER read. I'm somewhat familiar with the character because of Noble's history lessons (;)), but even so, I was a bit lost. The art was spectacular, and the given backstory doesn't seem to speak for or against established continuity...at least to me, the new reader. I just wasn't familiar with the angels and demons as characters that the story revolved around. I'd still like to see more. 7/10

House of M #6: I've liked the story for the most part so far, but this issue seemed to progress it the least of all. Too many double-pagers, though they were beautiful. Nice character moments for Spidey, Cage and Cyclops, but there was only about 15 pages worth of story here. 6/10

Y: The Last Man #37: This series never fails to impress. The introduction of a media presence makes complete sense. I can't really say more other than, "Paging Mr. Johnson..." ;) 9/10

Punisher #25: Man, during the Kitchen Irish arc (6-12), I was beginning to think Ennis was losing it, and Fernandez's art kinda sucked there, too. But since #13, this series has been back on its game. Fernandez is back on art, and though I'll never place him anywhere near the top of my list of favorite pencilers, there's a slightly softer/smoother quality to his work that suits the stories Ennis gives him. Maybe I'm just nuts, but it seems different to me. Anyway, the script is beautiful and brutal. Like the beginning of last arc, the first issue of this one ends on a promise of more ass-kicking. 8/10

Garth Ennis' 303 #5: Sweet Jesus this took a long time to come out...I'm talking Ultimates, volume 1 long time. Anyway, the script seems to be more of a poetic take on American history and violence that came with it. Burrows' art flows with it quite beautifully. The colors in the landscape panels (desert sunsets and such) were just gorgeous. I'm still not sure how Ennis plans to wrap the series with one issue left because there was really not much of a hint as to where the next issue will go. 7/10

Supreme Power: Darkhawk #1: This was an impulse buy. I almost never buy on impulse, but Dillon x Nighthawk drew me in. Gotta say, I was not disappointed. This subject matter suits Dillon and Way very well, and the lead in on the character is interesting enough. The one bad thing: the language and subject matter are making me even more sad that SP will be leaving MAX for Marvel Knights. :( 8/10

Ultimate Spider-Man #82--PICK OF THE WEEK!: Seriously, this book has always been a favorite of mine, but it hasn't been nearly this interesting and fun since the very first Kingpin appearance. Black Cat is clearly a nutjob, but even level-headed guys can't help being drawn in by hot chicks with issues. If the Killer B's (yeah, I said it) keep this up, this arc is sure to be a classic. 10/10

Yet to read: Incredible Hulk #86

Fell #1 - I think Ellis and Templesmith just work perfectly together here. The atmosphere and the dialogue were fantastic and really draw you into this town where things are most likely not as they seem. I love the fact that each issue will tell a complete story. The book is shorter than standard comic length but you really can't tell, you get an engrossing story, an interesting hero, and an introduction to a place you're gonna want to come back to.

Vampirella #0 - I know next to nothing about Vampirella but for 25 cents I couldn't not pick it up. I'm glad I did because the issue kicked a fair amount of ass and doesn't really require much prior knowledge of the character. It does a great job of mythologizing the character and then getting down to business with some vampire ass-kicking.

Supreme Power: Nighthawk #1 - I love Supreme Power but wasn't impressed with the Docter Spectrum mini so I wasn't sure if I was going to pick this up but I couldn't resist getting my dose of Dillon. Something about his art just makes me all warm inside. This issue was much better than I expected it to be. Loved the clown. I'm really going to miss this series being on MAX, I think the move is a big mistake.

Ghost Rider #1 - I got Dillon and Ennis in the same week, lucky me. I've of course been aware of Ghost Rider for a long time but don't know much other than he is a motorcycle riding bad ass with a flaming skull, so I can't speak much to the continuity or lack thereof here but I can say the art is mind blowing and the story looks promising.

Serenity #3 - I got the River cover because how could you not. The short story presented in the three issues wasnt all that great but it did its job of getting you psyched for the movie.

Fantastic Four HOM #3 - JUST KILL THE FUCKER!!!!! WHY LET HIM LIVE? This is something that continues to bug me to no end, and both parties are guilty of it. Aside from that unfortunate cliche this mini was pretty great. Looking forward to see what role The IT (horrible name) plays in the future.

Iron Man HOM #3 - Not so great. Not bad but still kind of insubstantial. Pat Lee shouldn't be allowed to draw humans.

House of M #6 - Pretty good, I guess. I don't like Copiel's art (although the sentinal looked great) and there seems to be quite a few inconsistencies between the different HOM books but I still want to see how it all turns out.

Villains United #5 - In a lot of ways this is my favorite Countdown book. Another fun issue where sides are taken and questions arise, really looking forward to finding out who Mockingbird is (I have my suspicions).

Manhattan Guardian #4 - "Don't bother changing my goddamn diaper." The baby was great. From the beginning this was my least favorite Seven Soldiers book and that continues to be true. I enjoyed the book but not as much the rest of the series. The conclusions of these minis are also proving to be a bit of a let down. I was hoping for some kind of closure with them but I guess I just have to wait for Seven Soldiers #1.

City of Tomorrow #6 - I love the art of this series but the story just kind of devolved into the same things over and over againg. The last couple of issues were kind of indistinguishable. Still, it was a fun read.

Covenant GN 7/10
I bought this being a big fan of the Crossing Jordan tv show [if you didn't know, the writer from Crossing Jordan, Aron Coliete did this'un], and wasn't entirely disappointed in this. From the previews I saw of his oncoming book 'VICE', I really expected more from this, but it wasn't bad. I kind of saw through who the manipulator was, but it was a fun twist. If you've got an extra $10 bucks, this is actually a decent read...but I'm really looking forward to VICE [with art by Tyler 'THE GIFT' Kirkham].

Fantastic Four: HoM #3 5/10
This left me fairly disappointed. I liked what Benjy did mid-way, but otherwise, enh.

Ghost Rider #1
I elaborate on this in this week's review board.

House of M #6 8/10
Okay, something I wanted to point out. Did anyone notice that Cloak's pupils went all nutty when he went through Xavier's grave? Kind of like Peter in the Green Goblin mask in Spider-Man HoM #3? Maybe a coikydink, but I smell a something fishy. Now that that's out of the way, decent issue. Nothing earth shattering other than the attack [great speeches], but I really enjoyed this. Can't wait for the climax.

Iron Man: House of M #3 8/10
Definitely the high point of this series. I like Pak's writing, and hate Lee's art, but Pak's shines shined through in this one. Good action, and the whole video game spin on hunting for the bombs made me laugh. Actually a decent cap to the series. The first two issues were mediocre, but this was great. Put this fucker on X-Men. Dump that Milligan schmo.

Marvel Team-Up #12 7/10
Decent origin for Titannus, but I want to see this guy tear some shit up. I think that he's just going to end up like Luca Brasi in Godfather, though. Big play-up, then just end up gettin' iced. I'd hate to see that; the guy's got a lot of potential.

Serenity #3
Haven't read it yet; really no motivation to. Have to go back and watch Firefly & Serenity, cause I just couldn't get into this.

Superman/Shazam: First Thunder #1 8/10
Even though I'm not a big Judd Winick fan, I am a Shazam whore. Middleton's art certainly fit it [nice, expressive faces], and Winick brought some decent dialogue to the table, but what sells it for me is seeing Sivana after a while! Love that demented fucker.Good book altogether, but kind of a silly ending.

Villains United #5 6/10
The only downstep in the series. I don't like the fact that the whole group is ripping apart at the seams, and the whole 'give me your child' thing is not to my liking, but then again, who cares? I really hope the ending is good. It better be.

Gotham Central #35 Absolutely love this book. This was a great issue in a great arc. Really excited to see how this one plays out.

Punisher: War Zone TPB Bought it on a semi-whim. I've seen it in there for months and I've thought about buying it, and I usually buy a new HC or TPB each week, and there weren't any new ones out that I wanted, so I went for it. Really enjoyed the story, and I love JRJR's art.

I enjoyed House of M #6. The moments with Cyclops assuming command, the Wolverine/Drew interaction, and the assault on Magneto's mansion were awesome. I half expected Sam Jackson to jump out and say "This party's over!" She-Hulk's definitely studied her diversionary tactics, too. Good for her.

Yikes. Stop slacking boys. ;-)

USM #82-God damn Hardy how long has it been since you've kissed a guy!? She was all over him, not to mention practically out of her costume. So Felcia leaked Dini to the feds, I'm impressed. Shows she is more than a pretty face. Liked the exchange between her and Spidey, funny and lighthearted, DeWolfe was also good, she is really starting to shine. Hopefully she will stick around. Nice tips of the hat to 616 with Ult Moonknight having split personalities and Elektra stabbing Dini to the back, reminiscent of 616 Elektra stabbing Urich Kingpin was so ruthless in this, loved it. Bagley's art great as usual. Great issue this arc has been kickass from the start.

House of M #6-Most of this takes time for the group to plan, but we get some nice dialogue from Scott and Drew particulary. Issue sets up what looks like to be a heck of a fight if the splash page has anything to do with it. Very good issue.

Ghost Rider #1-Fantastic art, just gorgeous, but story is not grabbing me yet. I'll give it a chance to lure me in though.

House of M #6: Great book. I expected a little more action in this one, but it was great nonetheless. Cyclops speech was perfect. He's always been the natural born leader and who else would be the perfect field general for an assault. Jessica's speech and Logan's responses were perfect. Best character moments in the book go to Spidey and Luke Cage's interaction. We've gotten so much humor from those two together in the New Avengers title that it was only fitting that they have naturally bonded and share a sad touching moment here. I see the shit hitting the fan next issue.

Ultimate Spider-Man #82: She's fucking nuts.

Fell #1: Pretty good book. Liked Templesmith's art better here than in 30 Days. I love Ellis' sarcasm with his characters. The post-it on the first panel on page 1 is the best/funniest I've seen in some time, "My new home. I think maybe a lot of people killed themselves here." Great stuff.

Y- The Last Man #37: One of the most consistent and solid books there is. Surprised by the cock shot. I know it's a coincidence, but being a Kevin Smith geek, seeing Yorick's dick and the issue being #37.... too much for me to handle.

Exiles #69: Finally a mention of "Sliders!" That's all I have been thinking of since the first issue. I've read it every month since the 1st issue and I always say to myself, "This is X-Sliders" The art was okay, not great. I was never a fan of "Angel." In Morrison's run, she came off as a lot younger than the way she was drawn here. Not that much time has passed.

7 Soldiers: Guardian #4: I've enjoyed this a lot. Talk about an in depth, extensive story. I don't know how Morrison can get so many stories in his head and make them come out so well. Nice to see everything tying together.

Superman #221: I actually really liked Bizarro in this issue. It was a little touching when Supes saved him from the OMAC. The Bizarro speak was a little weird, but it came off a lot better, I think, than it did in Loeb's Superman/Batman. I dropped that book because I just despised the story. I really love the Benes' artwork. One of the names that I haven't heard much about but puts out some work that it top notch.

Villains United #5: Not too bad. I loved Lex's little jab at the Fearsome Five, and it was awesome seeing Pariah. Just sends chills down my spine. Nice to see Vandal Savage too, I was curious what he was thinking about the whole villains uniting thing. Thankfully the fight was quick between Deadshot and Catman. The part about Cheshire being the mole wasn't that great... too predictable (man, if it was Ragdoll or Parademon that would have been a better one). What is up though with some of the villains on the splash? Big Impact? I don't even know who half of them are, they're that obscure... what kind of a mark would Humpty Dumpty leave? I wouldn't mind learning Arsenel's reaction to Cheshire's desicion. And I still think Mockingbird is Ra's.

Y The Last Man #37: Good stuff, although what's with Yorrick ditching the costume and running away like that? Kind of sloppy of him. I did like the mention of the gasmask getting old though. It seemed odd that 355 would be taken down so quickly and easily... by a journalist. What the fuck is up with that? Still, I enjoyed it, and it will be intersting to see where this goes, now that the pictures have been taken... penis and all.

House of M #6: This could have been a great mini series if it was cut to 6 parts. Just a lot of drawn out things over the mini series, like the annoucements of all the guests of Mags. We know who they are, we know where they rule, we get it. I felt like I was in school and the teacher was explaining things we already know... but talking down like I was a moron. Not a bad maxiseries, it just could have been much much greater if it was cut down a smidge.

Marvel Team-Up #12: What is with all the Skrulls lately? I loved this issue though. At first I was so not looking forward to a whole issue of back story for a new character but I loved it. Hilarious and well done.

Punisher #25: Awesome. It's good to hear the police take on Frank and his actions and why they never pursue him. The opening with the two cops was a little odd for me, and not really needed. But I still enjoyed them as characters later in the book. Judging by the title of the storyline, it's pretty easy to assume that she was a slave for sex or breeding... but we'll find out and I can't wait to see Frank handle the sentence for the acts commited against her.

Ultimate Spiderman #82. Damn you Bendis, where is Ultimate Iron Fist. Bring him back. Nice touch with the grenade, and it's good to see that Spidy isn't blind or stupid, though I probably would have at least kissed Felicia if I was him. Nice entrance of Elektra too. Can't wait for round two between Cat and her, and I can't wait to see Ultimate Moon Knight in action again, nice touch on the secret identities of him too.

Fell #1. BRILLIANT. Love the art by Templesmith, it's so fitting. Loved that it's self contained and didn't rely on weird shit that is unexplained. I have to say I enjoyed this better than Desolation Jones and Jack Cross. And $1.99? Fuck that's an awesome price. I have to say that this is my favorite book of the week. I wish that they put out temporary tattoos though of the symbol

MARVEL TEAM-UP #1-10 by Robert Kirkman & Scott Kolins - I'd read the first two issues and liked them, but fell behind...issue 12 coming out this week, but I trust Kirkman and that trust was rewarded with two fun and entertaining stories. Not every thing worked perfectly, but Kirkman, much like himself, brings the funny and levity I loved growing up. He has the characters say stuff that I'd have them say - if I could write a comic. Good stuff, pick up the first trade if you missed out on the issues. I like how he's tackling the Team-Up's. He's coordinating everything masterfully.

Superman/Shazam: I'm still undecided about this one. On one page I really like the artwork, on another I hate it. Plus it's Winnick, I really dislike.

The Punisher: Nice start to a new story arc.
