It seems every time we have a thread about a TV show, someone dubs it "the best show on TV." So I thought, "Hey, make a thread where everyone can throw out their favorite series." So how about it?

Note: not your "all time favorite show," I'm asking "best on TV," meaning current. So no Buffy, Star Trek, ect. Shows on season break I guess are ok, I'm looking for best current show.

In between series at the moment, but I'd have to say Doctor Who.

Rescue Me

Watching that is actually what brought this on. I just watched the episode from last week (two episodes ago, I'm getting caught up) and it was just too fucking good. So, at the moment, Rescue Me is at the top of my list. Lost might overtake it, once Rescue Me ends and Lost begins again, but at the moment, it's all FDNY.

I don't watch much TV, but of the shows I do watch, The Daily Show and South Park. Both a source of smart, satirical, razor sharp humor balanced out with absurd comedy.

Rescue Me season 2 has impressed me every week, but I still don't like it quite as much as some of my favorites from last season. It's hard for me to pick an absolute favorite from last season because I felt like last season, TV was the best it's ever been overall. OTOH there wasn't a single absolutely amazing must watch show on, just a whole bunch of really good shows. If I had to pick one, it'd be Lost, but I was really disappointed that Lost never lived up to the greatness of the pilot and the third episode, Walkabout.

I like the show a lot but I thought that the last run of episodes was really sub-par.

I don't get to watch much TV nowdays. I don't even have cable. I pretty much wait for stuff to come out on DVD and get the box set. But what I've seen of Lost has been fantastic.

Arrested Development is definitely the funniest live-action show on the air. Robot Chicken probably has my top cartoon vote right now.

Sopranos, Wire, Deadwood...I think Six Feet Under counts.

Entourage is up there. (It's LET'S HUG IT OUT, BITCH, Quintessa. ;)) Oh, so is Curb. And The Comeback.

Lost and Arrested Development, too.

I'm also really enjoying Teachers on BBCA.

Shows with new episodes this week: Battlestar Gallactica, with Rescue me as a very close second

Shows on next season: Deadwood with The Shield shield a reasonably close second.

Drama: Tie between Sopranos for being beautiful in every way, and 24 for being just so damn fun.

Animated: Tie between Tom Goes to the Mayor for being the funniest thing ever when I'm rrrrreally drunk, and Venture Brothers when I'm not.

Daily live talk thingy: Tie between Daily Show for being consistantly funny and Conan for it's moments of trancendant magic.

Comedy: Arrested Development, no contest.
